Aww...I have to say that it is sooo cool to see you all posting your plans for their return. It put a smile on my face this morning. I have a virtual hugg going out to my "adopted" Sailor, as my physical trip out west will be when my 'NavyDude' arrives...
:)
"But after awhile, it did get old and boring." LOL. kittythief, I cracked up when I read that. From what Jims describes I can't imagine living and breathing life on that ship. I took a tour while I was in SD and all I could think of was, "wow.... so much metal... whoa.... so much metal.... *sigh... no trees.... so much metal..." ha. I really admire that they can do it. I'm such a little wood-elf, I think I would feel confined and desperate. Now living on a sailboat.... maybe a different story....
Maureen, you are just displaying the banner at home right? Or are you taking it to the homecoming... I keep going back and forth on whether or not I should get one... I know... I need to make up my mind yesterday. haha. Can you help me out?
And yes, can we please all plan to get together!?!? Maybe we can start a FB thread and make some loose plans when it gets a little closer. Jim's flying me in the night before the homecoming and putting me up at a hotel, so I'll only have one night to really hang out if you guys want to seriously meet up. Unless you just want to hang out on base when we are waiting for the ship to settle in...
Helllooooo Ladies.
All of your positive energy is rubbing off on me. I'm feeling quite chipper. haha. Thanks for that.
Kittythief: YOU ARE AMAZING!! I can't imagine taking care of a baby while my man was gone. Not only are you dealing with "the missing" but I'm sure there are so many things that you must be sharing with your baby that you wish he could see too. Must be so rough. I really admire you.
Maureen! Your Grand Canyon/Sedona trip sounds AWESOME! Jim and I were planning on driving back from SD to STL after he got back and spending a few days in Sedona and the Grand Canyon, so it cracked me up when you brought it up. We opted out cause he keeps saying that he just wants to come straight "home" (meaning to our apt in STL) after he gets off the ship and just "be." Sleep and read and eat nice dinners with me. haha. I told him I am up for whatever. Big road trip or not, just being with him again is going to be amazing.
And what is all this talk of flying back from Hawaii, ladies!! I'm so jealous!! Sounds like that's going to cut a nice chunk of deployment right off for ya! Sounds like sooo much fun. I've only heard good things about Hawaii. I know that those plans are definitely not in store for us, as Jim is supposed to be scheduled to drive the ship back from Hawaii. So looks like you ladies will take your men back to SD from Hawaii and my man will make sure the ship gets back to SD. haha!
loves!
