Hello Ladies. I won't be telling you my name, sorry, just kinda want to keep that under wraps for now. Just call me Mermaid. Jim's name is actually not Jim either, it's just what the sailor's call him on the ship. Actually, I don't even know if the sailors know his real name... haha, sorry to make everything so confusing.
Your sons should know Jim by his very eccentric personality. Apparently he is known for his sailing stories and his love for the ocean. So much so, that sometimes when he enters a room the sailors in the room say together "AHOY... (and then his last name)."

I talked to him last night a little bit to see if he knew your sons by their descriptions. He says he thinks he knows Jake for sure. But sonar techs are kinda isolated so he doesn't get to talk to many ICs. And sorry Lori, I'm still a little behind on all of this... What's an FC?
Maureen, I know Jim doesn't skate anymore, just fishes and sails. His interests have changed quite a bit since he joined the Navy. I'm still trying to get to know him again from our little 5 year gap. haha. But that's really cool that Jake still does. Do you know if there are others on the ship that do?
And what is this newsletter email and letter from the commanding officer...? I don't think I'm in on all of that. Is that something that would go to Jim's parents, or just him?
Thanks for letting me in on all of this, still kinda new.

Maureen, since you set up the group there should be a way for you to place a profile pic. Maybe there's something somewhere that says "edit profile pic" or "add pic?" Not sure since I've never set up a group. Is there a way that you can "edit" or "manage" the group? I can't image that it would be too different from adding photos to your profile...??

Jim gave me a tour of the ship last month when I visited. AMAZING! So much metal!! I've never seen anything like that up close and personal. He said I wasn't aloud to take any photos, so I was really surprised to see that Lori had photos. That's awesome. Do they give special tours when the ships come in or something?

Maureen, will you be going to visit Jake when they leave? Do people stand on the dock and watch the ship sail away? If so, that sounds heart wrenching! Perhaps I can try to surprise Jim when they come back.... I've been thinking about it, but again, I don't know how all of this works...

Bah! I'm writing a novel! Sorry.
So nice to meet such strong, positive, wonderful women! So much love!

YES!!! I'm so glad Maureen started this group!! Thanks Maureen! Now I know I have something in common with all of you, our sailors work together! YAH! Hey, isn't the George a cruiser, not a carrier? Sorry, I'm still trying to learn about all this stuff. I feel so mixed up.
My Jim is a sonar tech on the George and he's been with it for about 2 years. The deployment coming up will also be his second deployment, Lori.
I'm from MO as well, ShowMe. And Maureen, Jim was also a sponsored skater before he joined the Navy. So it looks like I've got a little something in common with all of you.
We'll have to stick close this deployment. :) Thanks for posting Navy Moms!
I'm so excited to meet you.
