The Captain wrote on Cape newsletter about the Phillipines & I also read about it on Navy news. So sad.
My son was pretty bummed not visiting there. But he posted pictures of their Halloween.
How cool to be at port & enjoying a foreign country celebrating Halloween. Him & all his friends dressed up. It was a great feeling to see that. I always tell him to detox & have fun every chance you get.
I have my hotel & car rental reservation. Holding off on plane till I hear from my son.
Im hoping he puts in for 1st leave so its we can head home asap! lol

I am so grateful for all of you. I wouldn't know what's going on at all if it weren't for your messages.

My son received his boxes 2-3 weeks. Not sure about this Holiday time. I just mailed his xmas box. Its more goodies than anything & Compression leggins he requested for he said its going to be very cold where they're going. Hope he gets it in time.
Also I was going through old mail on the last D & my son & the Ombudsman sent emails to the families all about Homecoming activities & id request to come on base, and they gave us plenty of time to plan to make reservations. (Over 2 months before.)
Im hoping its the same this time around too.
Im so anxious like all of you. Uuggghhh!!!!!

Here's what I learned last year, It may help....From what I understand our packages are sent and sit in a hanger...and sent whenever.  It's kind of like the luck of the draw.  They could sit there for a while or get sent not long after they arrive. So it doesn't really matter where they are sent from. They have RAS (replenishment at sea) every so often and that is when they get their mail.  (If I'm wrong veteran moms, please correct me) BTW, Happy Veterans Day to all our sailors!
