ProudNavyMomma(13/169) where did you buy your coin at? I'm looking for the same one for my husband

I gave my Sailor a coin last week at PIR. Ship 14.  He is now in A school at Great Lakes. Are there coins for that?

Just got our first coin today(Ship 13 USS Marvin Shields coin) and it is absolutely beautiful! I just hope our Recruit likes it as much as I do!

Lady Hamilton or Craig,

I ordered an IT coin for my daughter, who will start her IT training next week.  Where do you get the coin engraved and what do you put on it besides their name?

Lady Hamilton, yes that Is the one. It is so cute, my sailor loved it.

My thoughts make your own traditions. My sailor has about 10 to 15 coins he likes them all but the ones that mean the most are the one he received from my step dad (retired Army) which was a seventh group special forces coin from panama and the Airborne coin he received from my Dad (also retired Army). Neither is a Navy coin but those mean the most. My son returned the favor and gave both my step Dad and Dad a navy coin. My step dads reaction was awesome he hugged my sailor told him how proud he was of him and that was his first ever Navy coin he had been given. Never realized how much significance these coins hold to a soldiers until that moment.
He can tell you the story behind each of his coins. I have even purchased him a coin. I bought him the Popeye coin and gave it to him for Christmas. That was his favorite cartoon character when her was little and I couldn't resist getting it for him.

Thank you for the information!  Maybe I'll have my brother help me out on this as well.  He served in the Navy back in the 70's & is my recruits godfather.  It would mean alot coming from him.  Thanks again!

Hi there - Wondering where to begin with the Challenge coin collection?  Is it tradition to purchase their ship coin from boot camp first?  Is there a protocol to follow?  I would like to start this for my son.  He is in BC & his PIR is scheduled for 5/3.  He is Ship 03 Div 172  Thank you in advance for your help
