I decided to make this discussion because it takes up so much room on the front page.

Iran admitted having an additional nuclear enrichment facility they have kept secret from the world. This is an unsettling development, especially considering that one-week earlier, the Obama Administration scrapped plans for a missile- defense shield in Western Europe to protect us, and our allies, from a future missile attack from Iran or other hostile nations. I hope you had the opportunity to read my opinion piece on the issue. And finally, last week, Iran successfully tested their medium-range missile systems.
In addition to Iran, the Administration is attempting to warm up to another former enemy: Libya. Secretary Hillary Clinton notified Congress of her intentions to begin providing Libya with foreign aid. This is completely unacceptable. Libya has shown no remorse for the victim’s families who lost their loved ones from the bombing of Pan Am flight 103, and even welcomed the convicted perpetrator back to Libya with open arms. My colleague Rep. Nita Lowey and I sent a letter to Secretary Clinton to demand that the U.S. not provide Libya with any of American’s tax dollars.
I feel that it is one thing to improve our relationships with nations if they demonstrate a willingness to work with us to create a more peaceful world, but the United States cannot submit to hostile nations if there is no long-term strategic benefit. There are some out there who have realized that cooperating with the United States, and our allies, will create sustained peace and prosperity. That is where we need to maximize our efforts. To make concessions to nations who have not endorsed a peaceful vision is not something I can support.
