Brandonsmom, as the holiday season nears, take lots of
Pictures. I did and I think it helped me to deal with my boys leaving.

Well my boy has about 138 days untill he goes to BC...The days are going fast. He has been working every day the last two weeks. I'm praying that he will keep it up. He tried to call in yesterday but I fussed untill he got up and went. He just has not gotten the hint that being an adult means that you go to work EVERY DAY. He wants to be an adult but is not sure he likes how you have to act as an adult. Praying for the days before us go well and smooth......and fast.

Sorry I have been AWOL lately, I never thought going back to school could consume so much of my time.
I agree with Johanna. Go to Nexflix and watch Carrier. It in in ten one hour episodes. It will make you cry, laugh and most of all have a better understanding the real life of living on a ship.
My son's ship is dry-docked and he says he is so bored. He goes to the ship every morning at 5:30 and helps to get things off so the ship can have some much needed repairs. After that, he will be assigned to a base galley until it his ship is ready to be reloaded and then he will be going back to Hawaii for the summer.

Where is everyone?

The good news about being in Hawaii: It's still part of the US and is not an international call. The down size is the time difference. My son was there this past summer. He would call me around midnight my time, but would be about 7PM his time.

Lauren, Welcome to the Navy! I have become a pro at changing airline tickets! Some places are very helpful once you say that you need to change the date on the ticket due to last minute change in orders. American Airlines has a special Military rate that can only be bought buy calling them, (not available on-line) Priceline will need official proof and will change it on the spot. Another company< had to pay the difference and waited almost 2 months to be reimbursed.

Brandonsmom, I remember the holidays before my boys left. I took as many pictures as I could. My younger son who went first has now been in for a little over a year (his PIR was 10-16-09) and when I look at the pictures "before and after" I can see the change! Laurence's hair was midway down his back and now, well...
My CS has been almost a year, and he also has grown!
I agree, your PIR group will be your rock for the eight weeks of boot camp. You will grow together as well as cry with each other. Johanna and I were in the same PIR group for our boys last fall. You can also count on us here. We have all been where you are now. All I can say is: Get ready and put on your seat belt because you are in for the ride of your life!

Brandon still has 160days.....I am counting every one. And we are going through with him all the same stuff as alot of the other parents. He just does not understand why he can not do what he wants when he wants to do it. I guess this is never going to change. I know with the holidays comeing it will go faster. He is just READY!

Yea it's a hard place to live, but I guess someone has to do it! His home base is San Diego. No wonder he doesn't want to come home to Dallas to visit! lol
