Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I can't remember if I introduced myself. My son started BC on Tuesday and after that he plans to go to CS A-school in Fort Lee, VA. I'm glad I found this site.

Comment by Jappj on January 28, 2015 at 2:26pm: Brandons Mom, there is a ceremony after CS A school it is usually on a Friday. Depending on their orders they usually get leave after the ceremony

Comment by therevbev on January 28, 2015 at 1:11pm: Since we were living in PA at the time, we could drive down to see the "ceremony". They did a very nice graduation (about an hour long), we were greeted personally and had a chance to take pics with the students etc. We went down, since he was getting 10 days leave before heading for a carrier in the Pacific, to pick him up. We then had to drive him back at the end of leave (his flight out was from Richmond). It was nice, but we wouldn't have done it if we had had to fly or drive more than a day.

Comment by therevbev on January 23, 2015 at 12:10pm: We lived in Wisconsin while our CS was awaiting his trip to Va. (3 weeks). We traveled down on a Saturday and one overnight weekend. While he couldn't stay overnight with us, we could pick him up on base and sign him out for the day. He still had to be in uniform (hadn't earned enough liberty to wear "civies" on liberty) and return time depended. But, yes, they get the weekends unless called to stand watch.

Comment by Jappj on January 23, 2015 at 12:08pm: Brandonsmom1 - if they are attending CS school in Fort Lee they stay at GL for at least 2 weeks to Indoc since Fort Lee is an army base. If there is a class starting after indoc they leave right after that if not they wait to class up the program is about 6 weeks long
