Congrats and welcome!

Thanks, he called yesterday afternoon, Sounded a little homesick, but was enjoying exploring the base. we are sending his phone today. He'll be connected with the world again.

Wait until he walks down to the Del Monte Mall........it's so fun seeing the 'new arrivals' out on the town.  They are easy to spot because they have to be in their dress unis when off base!  Fresh out of bootcamp, their first paychecks in their bank accounts, and out at the mall!!!  ;-)
I cant wait to hear about Monterey. I've never been there and look forward to visiting him at some point. We have  over a year to get out there.

Hi Cheri. Welcome!  My daughter just completed her 1st week at DLI. We are still getting use to gettting a phone or text message from her daily :)

Tom

so how does she like so far/
Quite a change from boot camp! Loves the environment and is excited to get classed up.
He E-mailed us last nite. Still getting settled in ,but seemed better. He said they may switch is language. Thats ok with us as long as he is happy.
Spencer had one language in BC, then at DLI, they switched him, (he was bummed) then he was in the right place at the right time and got switched back to his original language.  As tough as it was, he made it through and is now enjoying his first duty station in the islands.  :-)

Mark wont start classes until june. I guess we will know for sure then. He doesnt really think they will switch him. Still waiting for his phone to get there.

They didn't change my son's language, but, he started classes almost 2 months earlier than he was told in boot camp.  In my son's 18 months in the Navy, we have learned that just because they say it's one way, things can change!

That is so true. My husband and i were in the navy a million years ago. Mark"s phone made it today. Just spent an hour talking to him. He sounds great.
