Can someone please give me a bit of info on this A school?  My boyfriend is going in February and I had already planned to move to California anyway.  I've heard about the phases and heard they are slightly different for each school and was wondering if anyone could give me any idea what they consist of or how they work.  We are not yet married and someone on here told me I might not even be able to visit him because I'm not family.  Will I ever get to see him while he is in A school? Please help!

Hi Cassie and welcome!  First piece of advice: read through all of these old discussions, there is good info within.

You can visit your b/f, no problem.  He will be restricted while in Phase 1 to only going off DLI property in dress uniform and the amount of time he can go off exploring is limited. (curfews, etc.)  Each phase gives him more freedom.  Phase three is the top and he can even spend the night off the Presidio as long as he musters for duty/class on time.

Visiting isn't restricted to family so don't worry!  Congrats on your soon to be sailor!

Oh so he CAN go off base for short periods of time in Phase 1? I kept finding hings saying who couldn't leave at all, though it was geared toward this school specifically.  Yes I had heard that.  I shall certain read more into these other postings! :) Would you happen to know if they are ever permitted to live off base while in A school (his will be between 9-11 months) not necessarily in housing provided by the military but just in general?

Thank you so much for your help and thanks I'm incredibly proud of him!! :)
