My son will be graduating in July and I'm getting a little anxious.  I keep bugging him but he doesn't have a lot of information yet. So, I was wondering if anyone on here could help me.

Are the graduations just for one class or are there multiple graduations going on at once?

Do you have to have tickets for the graduation?  If so how many do you get? Does it depend on how many are graduating?

Do the sailors have a lot of work to do the week of graduation?

Does leave start right after graduation or when they take it?

I know, we have 5 1/2 months before he graduates, but I'd at least like to do SOME planning. I've got grandparents that want to go and I'm not sure how many people he can have there for graduation.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated!!

Thanks!

We made several trips to Monterey when our son was there but did not go to graduation for several reasons.  One they do have intense studying to do the week leading up to graduation.  Our son was going on to Augusta for Cryptology School so he had to drive his car.  My husband was going to drive with him but he had clearances that needed to be done so he was not sure when he could leave.  He got a few weeks to get to Augusta so he came home for a week.

As far as graduation there are more then one group that graduates, but the it is not like BC the classes are much smaller and have assigned times.I don't believe you need tickets, but my son said they just need a list of who is coming.

As far as when they leave that depends on how soon their orders get processed and if they are taking leave, etc.

My son said that there was very few family members at graduation.  Thee was a lot of studying as he was in CTI in Monterrey.  We visited the weekend of his graduation.  He stayed in California until he got his orders in October to deploy in January.  He came home at Christmas for leave.

Graduations are every Thursday in the theater. My son's was at 10:30am. We went to muster at 7:30a. then we waited outside while the class graduated ahead of his. The theater seats a couple hundred. There are no tickets--not needed. His class was about 60 some, and not all have family members there. Our son was busy up to the day before. They take the proficiency exam, and do some catch up the last week (our experience). Some of the kids shipped out the next day for their F school. Mine had leave to drive x-county. Good luck with your planning. He lived in pacific grove, and there were nice places to stay and eat!!

Hey there.  We are headed out to graduation too, but will get in very late the night before.  What gate should we enter through? And where is the theater located?  I think we will have to meet them there.  Thanks for any info!

Military personnel will have to get you through the gate (since 9/11). Make arrangements with your sailor.  We did early muster bc he had to be there. Have a great time, proud parents!

Thank you!  Very proud indeed :)

I, too, would like some information on graduation coming up in July.  Will the graduates be able to spend time with family before graduation?  Also, how soon to they fly out after they graduate?  I hate to fly across the country to spend only a couple of hours with my son, when he will be home right after graduating.  Thank you for any info.

We are arriving the Sat before Graduation.  He will have already taken his final by then.  This will be my 5th time out there since he's been in school.  We'll spend the weekend with him, and then IF he has time we'll at least see him during the evenings leading up to his graduation.  His leave starts on Friday, and he'll be flying home with us!!  I'm so excited!!
