I need to disagree about the Navy Lodge on base. While the price is right, the rooms are pretty awful. Dingy with really old worn out furniture, the bed was hard as a rock and made me long for home. The up side is that it was right on base so it was easy for our daughter to make 10 daily trips back to her barracks for all the things she had forgotten.
Just got back from Monterey, stayed at the Navy Lodge its 75 a night , reasonable rooms with fridge microwave dishes etc, our room slept four, our daughter stayed with us as she was on leave and wanted of the base, if you are allergic to animals be sure to ask fort a no pet room and book well in advance as they have a waiting list.Take a jacket as it gets cold at night and early morning.Loved seeing my daughter but they work soo hard studying even when on leave.
I see pics of some of your Sailors. It this o.k. to do now that they are out of boot camp?
Curious, where is the best place to stay in Monterey?
Thanks, we are going to wait a while. The earliest we would go would be Labor Day weekend, which puts her at 12 weeks. So she should have the lay of the land by that time.
Thanks Lili and Debbie, will hang on for a while to see what transpires. I am finding myself with a lot more questions than I had even while at boot camp. I think with boot camp I knew I would see her at PIR and there was a date attached. Now it's open ended.
Curious about how long a parent should wait to make a trip to Monterey? I also heard they get extended leave a Christmas any other things a parent should know about visits there and when they get to come home?
My Sailor arrived in Monterey on Sunday. She is exhausted from boot camp but excited about the new experiences Monterey will bring. It was such a joy to see her at PIR, on Liberty and the next day at the Airport. Miss her but knowing she is happy makes it tolerable.
Would like to connect with other CTI mom's with 06/08/12 PIR grads!
MindyAndTaylorCTI-best wishes to you-
greenoak-have a great time!
