Hey everyone! I'm a Future Sailor and leave for bootcamp on 20121023 for CTI. Could not be more excited!!!

Thanks so much. I've been reading everything I can get my hands on about this. I really do hope we don't have to wait too long before I can move out there! We have already packed everything and I'm staying with my parents until I can move, so I'm so ready to go!

My son is currently at DLI in Monteray.  He has already been approved for housing, and will be bringing his wife out next week.  His PIR was 5-11-12.  He is currently Phase 2.  I don't think what Phase it is matters only that they are married.  Hope this helps.

Hello ladies! I am a new navy wife and I need a little help! My husband is currently in bootcamp and is a CTI. He will be going to DLI in Monterey, CA for A-school. I know if he is there for over 6 months then I can also come, but I've also heard that there is a waiting period before he is permitted to live off base. Is this just true for un-married sailors or is it also true for married sailors??? I would appreciate any and all help!

My son said that he was camping in Big Sur for the weekend and he passed away in his sleep Friday night.  He was only 42.  As a more mature student at the DLI and an experienced Sailor, he was a leader in the Division and a mentor to many of the younger men and women.

Very sad.  Will be thinking of his family and our sailors...Does anyone know what happened?

So sad, Bless his family.

My son called this evening and shared that a Navy DLI student, who was also a mentor to many, passed away last night.  He has a wife and daughter.  May God bless his family and comfort our Sailors as they process this loss.

Oh, yes, and Carmel at sunset!  It's absolutely fab country by the sea.  Can't wait to go back when he's at DLI

Just got back from a great trip visiting my son in Monterey. Some friends of my son suggested we go to Point Lobos which is only about 10 minutes from Monterey on highway 1. I have to say it was an amazing place. The scenery is fabulous! Even better than the 17-mile drive. I would recommend it to everyone.
