beckmcs, I thought my sailor said you guys were coming out to your sailor for Christmas. Great idea. If you guys decide to do that again before our guys graduate, let us know. We'll try to coordinate coming out at the same time. It seems our guys get along pretty well.
We just returned from Christmas in Monterey with our sailor. We rented a house in Pebble Beach, with a full kitchen, so we could enjoy some of the home cooked yummies our son has missed since August. The family time was amazing and the beauty of the area is breathtaking...seriously, a much overused word but spot on here. A big highlight was a tour of the Presidio of Monterey, these sailors have a most beautiful setting to learn and thrive!
The goodbyes get a little less painful each time, it seems.
We put our sailor on a plane very early this morning. He's back in Monterey safe and sound. This week went too quickly. It sounds like some of you guys are planning trips out there in the summer. Are you just picking a date and hoping they will be out of class or did you just pick a date knowing they may not be able to get leave during that time? I'd like to start making plans to visit, but I don't want to go during a time they're in class.
At least my son shaved! But he was messy while he was home-but he did make his bed before he left!
Sounds like we're all going through the same thing-you just wish time would stand still, you know? Having a going away party is a great idea! My other son is leaving on Friday for a new job in Florida. We're happy for him but this will be a really empty nest.
My son's flight leaves at 5am tomorrow morning. He is supposed to be there around 4am...... he's decided to go to the airport late tonight and sleep in the USO area until it's time to get up!!! We're having his going away party tonight. Can't stand the thought of him leaving again.
