Debi,

I don't know about your son, but my son was very busy the first few weeks with inspections and passing boards.  Once he passed boards and "phased up" things slowed down a little.  But be prepared.  My son wasn't supposed to start classes until January, also. (He got there Oct. 22)  But they surprised him by not only changing his language but starting his class two weeks after he got there.

My son arrived there on Sat night - he doesn't start school until Jan though...any info on what he will be doing before then?

My son's roomate at DLI proposed to his girlfriend this past week. How exciting. He met her at DLI.  I don't even know this young man, but I'm so happy for him!!   Maybe my son will meet a super smart CTI, too!!!  hahahaahaa

We put up blue candle lights in all of the windows for our sailor! They look beautiful! He will be home on the 17th!

Lisa, my son specifically asked me not to do that.  He said they were told to keep what they were doing on the down-low.  If I were you, I'd ask your sailor before you do anything like that.

Question: Has anyone put a little thing in your newspaper about your child in the Navy, what they're doing etc? What  should it say according to Navy rules?

Hi Florida_girl,

I think the military rate is for the active duty person, not for families, but, it doesn't hurt to ask! LOL. Trip Advisor sent an email alert that fares Orlando to Monterey dropped to $363 round trip. Our sailor wil be coming home for Christmas, but to get cheaper fares, she flies into JAX and then out of Tampa. Driving two hours to either, vs. driving 45 minutes to Orlando, is more than worth the $600.00+ in savings! Good luck. --mpc
