For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

If any of you gals are planning on getting your kid to the East Coast for Christmas, I hope you have their ticket already. I just watched prices jump $200 in one day. Ouch. I just paid over $400 more than what it cost me to fly from Virginia to Seattle earlier this year. But having my sailor home for Christmas is priceless.
On another note, they changed my sailor's date to start classes to next week. He was supposed to start until January. Wowser. He's in panic mode now.

@Debbie... I'm going to start getting involved in "Operation Welcome Home Maryland". They meet at BWI's USO terminal to greet the soldiers coming home. I'm really excited. If you are interested let me know.
Does anyone else know of volunteer groups that do this in other states?

We recently returned from Monterey, what a beautiful place! We took the 17 mile drive, had lunch in Pebble Beach, visited the the aquarium and oh yeah spent some great time with our son and his friends. They work hard in their classes and I am amazed at how much they have learned in such a short time.
