We were planning to stay on base.  This is all new for us so we thought staying on base might be easier to get our feet wet in military life.

Hello everyone. I'm excited to get to know you all. My son arrived at DLI on Saturday. His classes don't start until October but I'm sure they will keep him busy in the meantime. He said the area was beautiful ... a little different than the Midwest where we come from.

my son has been there exactly 2 weeks and is now in phase 2 meaning he can actually leave the base in his street clothes on the weekends. And, I think after 4 or 5pm. during the week.  Today he sent me pictures from the beach area- it was of seals lounging on rocks in the water. We DO NOT see seals here in Maryland!! It was sooo cool. I think this must be the best A school possible. Maybe I'm wrong, but it sure sounds nice.

Hi, all! My husband is at boot right now.

I was wondering about how long it takes once my husband gets to DLI will they move me and the kids??  And about what time will he find out what language he will get??

So, for the 1st time in 110 days.... my son had a free w/e! He actually slept in until 10:30am. He said it felt weird & he felt guilty. He couldn't leave the base yet, but he had a free weekend! I'm so excited for him.
