Oh my goodness - Sharon, why did your daughter chose to get her own apt right away? So that means she had a car, too? Just curious.

Oh, Sharon thank you for the info!!  Since my son can only send me quick letters and no phone calls I can't ask him any questions. He just informed me in a letter today that he got his "classification". I geuss that means they told him what he will be doing. He found out his language and how long he will be in Calif. (12 months). Actually, he said he will be in Calif. 2 months before school even starts. So, he will be there 14 months!  Congrad's on the daughter's E-5. Yaaaay!!  My boy said he will be an E3 after boot camp. Of course I no nothing of what that means, but Yaaaay anyway!!  Sounds much more importand than an E-3!

I'm not sure what this field would do in Georgia, but I can tell you that there is a sub base there in St.Mary's (King's Bay) My husband was on subs and pulled in and out of King's Bay many many moons ago ;)

Another question???  After a loooong time at A school in Montery, my son will be going to Georgia. what's there? Is that where most people in this field go?  Is there a specific military base?

Hello Moms & all other significant loved ones!!

I have been awol for a few months but am glad to jump back in and enjoy the convos with others who are experiencing the same ups and downs the military brings to those who have sailors in the same field :)

My son is half way thru his training in Monterey and doing fantastic! I am so proud of his accomplishments and look forward to talking to him every week with updates and story time ;) He reads me the stories he writes in his language then translates for me. He also has a wonderful girlfriend who is also in the program and is just as sweet as she can be. I am grateful he has someone who is going thru the same thing and that he is able to share fun time away from school with her!

Glad to be back on here and look forward to catching up!

Does anyone know when the Christmas exodus at DLI will be this year? I'd like to get a flight booked for my son to come home but not sure how far in advance they will know the schedule!

Soooo excited for the day when I can visit my son in Monterey. I'm sure I will want to pack up my family and move. I currently live right outside of Annapolis, Md - a big Navy area. And where does my son end up? All the way on the other side of the U.S.

Thanks, Dee.  I've read through that a few times, and from what I gather then, the answer to my question about how long I wait really depends on what language he gets and when that class starts.  AH!  I never know what to tell my landlord where we - well just me right now - are living.  I guess I'll have to be patient and wait for answers once he's out there.  :)
