Thanks, Dee!  I'm excited because we're within 20 days of PIR!

Can anyone who's gone through the phases at CTI give me an idea of what to expect?  I'm getting anxious about the move out there, and curious about how long I'll have to wait to join my husband.  I'm reading all sorts of different things online, but I thought that someone here might know.  :)

I didn't know that the kids get ranked at boot camp? What does that mean???  My son is the opposite. He is not competitive at all!  hahaha. Good Lord, I hope the ranking system doesn't hurt his feelings. Before boot camp, he was a peace loving, animal activist Vegan!! Nobody could believe he signed up for the military. He had to start eating animal products in preparation for boot camp.  He's a very philosophical intellect kinda guy. (hence, Military Intelligence, right!  haaa).

@Monica - Hope your daughter is having a good time at DLI. You are so lucky to live close to her.

Those of you with children who have gone through the CTI rating, do you remember when they got their language classification during boot camp?  (My husband is there now, and I am always finding new things to fret about.  :))

Can anyone tell me how soon after arriving to DLI I could plan a vacation out to Monterey to see my son? He will probably arrive I'm geussing June 20th or so. Would July be too soon? I know he will be there probably 12 months, but I want to go over the summer while my younger kids are on break. Are they allowed to have family visits that soon? Are they allowed off on the weekends that soon??? Or in the evenings? what should I expect?

So I will be spending Mother's Day in Carmel with my son and it ocurred to me that it might be interesting to see the DLI? Any one have an opinion on this idea? Dumb idea, dead in the water, or great?

We had two weeks.  If your move will be cross country, it might be different.  It may be different, also, because with nuke school they had classes starting pretty much every week.  Obviously with DLI when his class start will completely depend on his language.  There are many, many more nukes in the Navy than CTI, so take that into consideration, also.

That's really good to hear.  What was the transition from bootcamp to a-school like?  Did you have any time between?
