For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Mary - my son arrived last week and just the few days he has been there he loves it. He had been told he wasn't allowed his phone or computer for 2 weeks but he found out differently the day he got there and they are already on the way. Maybe your son and mine will run into each other, I understand there aren't that many Navy personnel per class. I was so happy and excited for him when I saw him last weekend at his PIR. He had grown up so much during the 2 months at bootcamp (he is only 17) and I am eager to see how much more he will change in the next few months.

Thank you very much Dee. Yes I know all about studying. Just recently I was going to medical school to become a family practitioner and yes that required a lot of studying. I was in the ROTC program for the air force but I knew I needed something different. I live in California so sometimes I forget that some places just don't get hot..lol..Thank you again for the heads up. I am really looking forward to what the navy brings me.

Hi BamaMom! Welcome and congrats to your sailor! I'm guessing from your screen name that you're either from somewhere in AL or a Tide fan. Me too - on both! My sailor has been at the DLI since the end of January and loves it.

Hi Mary! My son was Grad-and-Go and too. My husband and I went to the airport the next morning after PIR and got to spend a couple of extra hours with our sailor before his flight left. After they leave boot camp, they are allowed to have their cell phones and computers, so if you have either of those you can bring them and give them to your sailor before he flies to Monterey.

TammySue, I am sorry for your daughter. My son got very bad bad cold with high fever in Feb. during BC. He had slept for one whole day and even thought he could not PIR. He still coughs when he is in DLI. They need our supports indeed.

Hi SMSantens! Things will get much, much better once your sailor is out of boot camp. I talk to my son almost every day now that he's in Monterey. He's been at the DLI since January 30th and classed up the end of March. If your sailor qualified for a Level 4 language, the most difficult (Korean is the only Level 4 - I think), the odds of him getting assigned to Spanish are somewhat slim. I might be wrong about that, but I believe that if a sailor qualifies to take a more difficult language, they want them to do so. Again, I could be completely wrong about that, but that's what I've been told.
