Amy, we stayed at the Otter Inn.  It was nothing fancy.  But it was walking distance to Cannery Row and all the restaurants.

Can someone recommend a good reasonably priced hotel close to DLI or point me in the direction of that information? Thanks!

Sure! Also, to clarify- I met her for approx 3 minutes at graduation & then the next time I saw her was at their wedding 9 months later! Haha. What was really cool was meeting her parents at the wedding & hearing her dad give the most amazing speech about how proud he his to call my son HIS SON, too! They love my boy just as much as I love their daughter! They got both of our blessings.

Thank You KC'smom! I haven't met this my future son-in-law yet, but I can tell my daughter is very happy. They will be in C school together I am pretty sure. It is wonderful to hear about your son and his wife, and your post is very encouraging. We are all blessed with great kids, I just have to relax!  Congratulations to your son and his wife on their first anniversary!

My son met his wife at DLI. They dated throughout the 2nd half of the program. I think they were talking about marriage even prior to graduation but made it official about 3 months after graduation. It happened fast & I'm sure they were afraid of the thought of being separated & wanted to hurry up & get married to make sure they could be assigned to the same place. during the 8 months after DLI they were in different states & only saw eachother on w/e trips about once a month. I think the separation was good bc it gave them the chance to see how they do without the other person. I would have been devastated at all of the quick moves ( my son did not date much - very choosy I guess) but when I met her I couldn't believe what a catch she was & was all for it!! I could see why he didn't want to wait & let someone else come along! Haha! She's beautiful & smart & madly in love with my son so it's all good. It's as if they were made for eachother. They just celebrated their 1st anniversary last week. In fact they are up visiting right now!! Just bought their first house, too!

My soon to be CTI (graduating from DLI in September) just called to tell me she is engaged.  She is older, having attended college before enlisting, but she has only dated this young man for 4 months - 2 of which they were involved in immersion trips (separately) I am sure some of you have sailors that have met their future spouse at the DLI, and I am wondering how things having been working out -  I guess I am concerned it has been such a short time of dating. He graduated last week, so he will be moving on to C school soon. Both sailors are extremely intelligent (as you all well know how difficult DLI is) so maybe I am being a little overly concerned, I guess it is just the Mom in me poking through... Sorry for rambling....

Ambi I did accept you as a friend on here- did it not work?? Ask away! You would be the ONLY CTI Aircrew mom I've ever met!! I've even joined an Aircrew group & a group from the place he was deployed to. No one there. So exciting that I might be able to help you since I had to learn everything as he went along. We're all moms so it doesn't matter- but I can tell you what to expect!!!
