We are from the Chicago area. After BC they flew to LA and then to Monterey. San Francisco sounds like a good alternative. My daughter has been there since April, so I can imagine having your son gone since December! Hang in there NavyDaughter/Mom, we are so blessed...
Can we post the dates on here? I don't know, and i don't want to get anyone in trouble. He's pretty sure of the dates, but not positive. Whenever I've visited I either go to San Jose or San Fransisco. I 'm so excited at the thought of him being here. He was only 18 when we joined and he's been gone since last Dec...that was a huge adjustment!
Please share when you do have dates, my daughter is not positive yet about the dates either, and would really like to get the best prices - can be expensive from Monterey...
Does your daughter have the dates yet? We are trying to book for my son, but he's isn't positive about the dates yet.
My daughter is at DLI and plans on taking leave for Christmas and coming home. Any advice on helping her make the travel arrangements? Trying to find the best prices on flights from California to Ohio.
Pretty much the same story here. My son started in March and will graduate next July. The first few months were terrible - he was so worried about failing out of the program. He's a smart boy and never had to work this hard when he was in high school so this was quite some change for him. He got a tutor and right now he's hold a B average. It also didn't help that I think he was home sick at the beginning. He loves it now, and although it's still very hard he at least understands what he is doing and continues to pull in good grades. Not to say that there aren't still bad days but at least they are few and far between. I too reached out on this site to get some help from him at the beginning. It's comforting to know that my son wasn't the only one to struggle - neither is your son, he's not alone. And as IndyMom said, they really do want to see everyone succeed. I'd be glad to give you my son's information as well, he's been in your son's shoes and understands what it's like to struggle. I'll say an extra prayer for your son and your family!
Hi Lisa I sent you a message. How long has he been there? Just like BC it takes adjustment. My son just found out he passed and graduates next week. I would like to get him together with your son as he is on light duty now and could probably give him some good info and support. My son is a smart kid but he said he had to work harder than he ever had. He did find a balance between work and play. Tell him to hang in there. My son had to get extra help at times and the great thing is they really do want everyone to succeed. God-Bless
My son is having a tough time right now in DLI and needs a friend. Does anyone know who or how to get him in touch with someone he can talk to?
Thanks KC'smom. I printed the info and will deliver to Monterey. He'll have some starting places to look. c
