Clockard - I'm trying to send you a message but when I press the send button after writing my message it doesn't seem to work. Or did I blow up your inbox yesterday? Sorry to post this on the wall but maybe someone can shed some light on my problem. BTW I did upgrade my windows explorer. Not sure if that has something to do with it. Also, I've tried replying to a previous message and starting a new one.

After hearing what Craig has said in the past, I am constantly reminding my son, not to leave without a degree and now he is as adamant as I am on it! I think they have to be at their first duty station a while before they can take classes. Then it is hard because they have stuff they have to attend. My son just finished some class and got a free laptop. There seems to be alot of downtime that would be perfect to take some online courses. As far as college credit, I mentioned that and he said they are told they can get credits but I don't think that has ever been worked out. Do you think computer science degree would be the best fit for the type of experience they have received?
Comment by Craig on April 30, 2011 at 2:03am

North - Here is the link...(since I know clockard has been missing them ~ha)

https://www.navycollege.navy.mil/smart_info.cfm

but the bottomline is a sailor can tell their parents alot of stuff about how many credits they have earned, but it's alot of bullsh*t (Navy term)...  You only get it for the schools that are offering those credits.  So lets say the college that is offering the entire amount is some place in Alaska, then you must go to that college in Alaska.  Not all the credits transfers to all colleges.   Sailors always get big head thinking they will receive those credits, but I bet only about 5% ever go on to getting there AS or BS degree.  I've beening b*tching (another Navy term) at my kid to get off his butt and get his degree, but he hasn't yet...

I guess it's time for me to read my book again...
