My Son did have a car, it was a good thing ... the base is far from everything and it's much safer for them to drive than walk to the beach and to town.  Just remind him that a ticket for speeding or any infraction off base would get him kicked out…Continue

Will your son be going in as an E1, E2 or E3?? Also, does your son have any technical training/certs or schooling...if so tell him to look into the DPEP. Craig told me about it and that next Monday i submitted by packet so, if it's approved, when i graduate from JCAC i'll be an E5..hopefully

CTmomof3, I would say CTN has one of the best advancements...right after Nukes. If you look at the latest CREO which is used more for re-enlistment shows E1-E5 on the CTN rate as 1, which means undermanned. Great chance for advancement and really good opportunities when he gets out.

My husband has a question on the CTN rate. Do you know if you can progress easily? I know of people in other rates that even though they pass the test you can't progress because there are no openings. Since CTN is rather new any info on this.

Craig, I think my son did go on the Navydep site. I found the note i left him next to the computer. He's at work now so I can't ask.

Nukes and CT's are like a brother/sister relationship. They think CT's are wierd, and we thing the same (that we are wierd). Wait, that's not what I meant.... We think they are wierd... It all start when they wore the TI-40 calucalators on the belts in "A" school, and so did we.... but that was in Orlando, years ago....

Craig - Do you know if they have released a new CTN info sheet?? The one I keep finding still reflects A and C school. Thx

Deena - if you are not easily offended, and like "off the wall discussions", you may want to look at the "Chicken Ship" forums. I started it about 14 days ago, and it already has 215 pages of posts.
The thread is truly about nothing. Just people having a goodtime talking. I go there, then here to the CTN section, then to my websites and just make a big loop.

But again, it's not for the faint of heart, if your easily offended, it's not the place to be.

clockard - The one that assigns rating is the "Classifier". They are usually the NCC rating.

CTmomof3 - You should tell your son that his family background is "CT''s. If he accept anything other than a CT rating he will get a foot in his @ss (kind of like the book 3 pages ago). Beleive me, legacy in the military is something to be proud of. If you would break that in my family, then I'd be really ticked.

We have the same pride as nukes, maybe even more. At least we don't do stupid crap like nukes. Did you see the recent bootcamp video where they accidently put a nuke in with the special ops guys? Here it is....Can you spot the nuke?

Comment by Craig on September 28, 2010 at 2:46pm
Just to give you a background on "patch". Beleive it or not, the first time it was ever published was on July 13th, at 12:52..on this CTN forum.

Knowing that CTN's didn't have a logo since they were brand new, I wanted to get something out there for them. My friend actually drew that up, but it was orginally for our group at work. It orginally had "CTO" which stood for C=Contractor, T=TRW, O=Operations. I liked it so much I ask him if I have it for my website. So, I doctored the master up, and changed it to CTN and added the CT quill and lighting bolt.
I truly wanted our guys to have something. Not having a logo is not being a sailor. It's funny how it's made it's way around.... Please keep passing it along...

Thanks everyone for the info. That's ok Craig I knew you'd catch up on the question.. He took the practice ASVAB 2 weeks ago and now going to take the "real" one and do the physical stuff etc next Tues. I and his Dad also told him to...stick to your guns... don't let them tell you to just pick something etc etc. His dad gave him all kinds of advice on how recruiters work and several co-workers were listening to the conversation shaking their head in agreement... his Dad works for the joint staff at the pentagon so you can figure out who his coworkers are. I did ask my son if the rate he wants isn't available what will he do he needs to start thinking about that. He'll try CTN or CTR...
On the color blind? I knew he was colorblind since he was young but get this one..the recruiter had him take a colorblind test on GOOGLE What??? I said. ya mom told he went on google and tested me..,Well, that's a new one.
Craig im going to give him your link to look at.. I go by you can't have too much information..and he has some good resources. here you all are fantastic
