My daughter finished BC and was supposed to start A School for CTR. She was told they are backed up as much as 8-10 months and she's now just in holding. Is this really true? She was also told she cannot take online college courses in the evening because they are in "holding". Anyone have any info? She's really depressed beause she was so excited to start A School and get moving. Now what? Any recommendations?

So...it has been a while since anyone posted on this link - how is the wait time for CTR?  My son just arrived yesterday.
I hope someone posts soon! My son very much wants to pick CTR as his rate. More current info about what the holding time is would be great. Really though being in holding shouldn't be terrible; you get some time to learn and settle in to Navy life.
Hi there... My son just graduated boot camp. He is training to be a ctr. He graduated 17aug. He starts A school the 27th of August. So no waiting at this point at least for CTR. hope this helps!

Hi, GoNavy, thats good go know, my son left for BC 4 days ago, so am waiting for the box, the letter and all the stuff in between before graduation, which I don't have a date for yet... He's going in for CTR, also ! Keep me posted on how your son does and congrats on his graduation!

Thanks so much for the update! My son's PIR is 9/7. Less than two weeks. :) I was really worried about the holding period. Hopefully his will be quick as well. How long did your son have after PIR before shipping out?

My son graduated last week and is going for CTR. Was told today A School classes will not start until Feb. He is still very positive.
Julia50h (Ship 12 Div 010) - My son is scheduled to have PIR 12/21/2012 and is going to CTR school. The last he heard he was supposed to report to Corry by 4 pm on 12/30/2012 but from what your message states school won't start until February? The information out of RDC has been a little conflicting with some sailors granted leave until 01/07/2013. I am hoping to get a call from my son today to see if there are any updates. I don't think he's seen his orders yet . . .
Linda Rae congratulations on getting closer to PIR! As of right now he was told Febuary but it could change if they get enough people. He is so happy to be there it does not get him down. He said they work longer hours but he loves the responsibility and no yelling. Either way your son will love it and a few months delay should be fine if he is busy. My guess is he will be.
Thanks for all of the positive information. My son just finished "hell week" in boot camp and he called me just a few minutes ago. He says he's no longer sick although most of the rest of the division is still coughing, etc. Now that he can see the end of the tunnel he sounds excited and positive. Between hearing his voice and knowing he's okay and your message about how much your son is enjoying his tiime at Corry, I am a happy Mom right now. Thanks!
