Our CTI2B arrived last night at DLI with the rest of cohort from graduating class. He will class up in a week. Any advice to pass on about housing, services (internet?), etc. helpful.

Sal, your are more than welcome to join him in Monterey at any point. As wife said, he will have to phase up which took my wife exactly one month. Phase 3 in Monterey has no curfew (other branches do), so even though we were waiting on the formalities of moving off base to go through, she was still staying with me! PM me if you need anything!

Sal, phase 3 is where they are able to leave base during the day and weekends, if he lives off base then he can stay off base except for his classes of course and other times that he needs to be on base. Otherwise he can still come off base but will have a curfew each night if he's living in the barracks. To live off base with you he'll have to file a chit. You can certainly go down there, but you won't be able to spend much time with him until he's phase 3. Don't worry though, phase 3 usually only takes a few weeks or month at most to get to (or it does at least here in Pensacola). Unless him or one of his roommates screws up an inspection or does something they aren't supposed to. Then they usually get set back another week or so. You should be getting BAH regardless though.

I've been trying to find an answer to this question. My husband got to Monterey yesterday. I was hoping to be able to move down since he will be there longer than 6 months. But, now people are telling him that he has to wait until he is Phase 3 before I can even think about coming down. Does anyone know what this means? We were told that I would be able to move down quickly after he got there. Any information would be wonderful.

My son will be heading to Pensacola after Thanksgiving for CTR training. It seems that most heading there come from boot camp, but my son has been in the Navy for 3 years as of October 28th. He has been stationed in Naples, Italy the whole time and is changing rates. He is very excited!! I have been part of this group since last year while waiting on his clearance to go through.

Any words of wisdom for my not-so-newbie sailor heading to A school??
