Hi everyone! My son just started BC but will be a CTR. I have no idea what that means so that's why I joined this group. Also would like to know more about Corry Station.

thanks, clockard. mine is still unsure about whether he'll get out or re-enlist. I know he's talked to plenty of civil service workers who work next to him but don't need to wear a uniform. the DC area is surely a great place to call "home base".

I couldn't find the discussion either so that is why I replied in the comment wall. I hope I was close to being right. LOL That is good info Craig.

Mine is also getting ready to PCS but not until dec or Jan. His wife is getting out next month. So he is heading to San Diego to help her pack up her place in a couple weeks then they are going back to Japan until he PCS back to San Diego. Sammy where is your son headed?

I know this will go WAY over you guys heads, but I will post it anyways because some of you may understand it. The Standardized Accounting Category Codes (ACCs) are on your orders (I have attached an example). This code allows you to bring your spouse with you to a training command.  

The rules for bringing a wife is the school has to be over 20 weeks long. This is school time and does not include holidays, weekends, and such. If you go to this link, and look at Page 12 of 13, you will see the 341 (no move) and 342 (ok to move) codes. This is why you need a 342 on your orders.

RunnerLHB i saw the question you sent to everyone. But don't see a discussion. Your sailors school would have to be 6 months long or longer. Then even if they do get married there is no guarantee they will let him live with her off base. Depends on rank, how he is doing in school. It is really hard to get. Plus there is no military housing per say as they would be living in a regular rental. Most just visit several times and let there sailor concentrate on passing school. Since he is at Corry that schooling is really hard.

My sailor will be separating from the Navy in a few weeks.  I was wondering about the blue service flag I've been displaying since his enlistment . . .  Does that have to come down when he leaves the service or can I continue to display it?  If it must come down, is there some other public way to proudly show he has served?  Thanks for your thoughts!

I'm glad to hear all the great things about the CT rate! Sounds like he's in the right field! Thanks for the information. We only live a little more than an hour away from Pensecola. Glad he will be close to home through A school!

agree. our sailor was pushed to go nuke but after talking to some in it (first on the boat, last off) it was decided CT was a better choice. enjoy the process, mom!
