For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My Son Leaves for BC on Sept. 26, 2013
The one thing that I am wondering about...Would I be able to take my son to the airport the day that he leaves for BC or will I have to say goodbyes the night before?

My son's recruiter said I could drive him to Shreveport the day he had to be there and could go to MEPS the next morning to see him swear in, that he didn't have to take him, so that is what I chose to do. I got a room in the same hotel he was staying in ,we went to dinner that nite and then he wanted to go hang out with the other recruits that were there. I went to MEPS the next morning and watched and took pictures of the swearing in, and hung out with him until it was time for them to go to the airport. I told him that he was just going to have to put up with me going to the airport and seeing him off as I wouldn't see him for a long time and he was just going to have to humor me. He didn't protest or complain. They wouldn't let me go to the gate, but I watched him as he walked down the hall to the gate. I would suggest asking your son if he would object to you seeing him off at the airport. You won't be able to take him to the airport, but you can hang out with him until it is time for him to go board the flight.
