While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My son is leaving for boot camp on March 6th, got the coutdown posted on the refrigerator and it's flying by! From there he will be attending A school in Meridian Mississippi. I'm hoping to meet a mom who's son will be there the same time my son is.

Hi, As of right now, my son is scheduled to leave for BC on 6th of March as well. At least that is what his current paperwork states. He has mentioned that it might get moved to May 3rd - but I don't know what that is based on. He is scheduled to go to the same school in Mississippi. I am worried though. He is 28 and (obviously a bit older than the average recruit) and although he is working out 1-2 times per day 5-6 days a week we are very concerned that he will not be able to pass his IFA before he leaves (most of the concern is the 1.5 mile run). Do you know what happens if he isn't successful? He seems to believe that he has to start over again and re-apply for a job. Do they go ahead and send him on to BC or does he literally have to wait another year and position to open up. He was supposed to work CTI.

tatmom - Being 28yo in today's Navy means nothing. Our economy sucks, and the Navy is getting a lot of people in the upper 20's and lower 30's now. It's not like it was 30 years ago when everyone was 18.
Per his run, how far is he off? What is his times? Remember, he only needs to get his age bracket and doesn't compete against the 18 year olds. He also needs to remember in the fleet, he can take the swim test. Even though he can't do the swim test for the PFA in boot camp, he needs to remember the doors wide open when he's gets to the fleet.

I don't know all the details of his weight training - however, he is working with someone who works a lot with the Navy and is very motivational. RC weighs about 163 and is 5.9 so he is on the edge. He has only run 1.0 mile and it took him 10 minutes - he walked the last lap very slowly. Based on your link greater than 12.58 fails him - he is currently (technically) at a min. of 15 minutes. He anticipates that his IFA will be around his 29th bday week is the 25th of March. Have you heard about any one not continuing to BC due to failing the IFA - - we both plan on continuing to work towards his BC date, but I know it will be a great disappointment if he has to start over in securing a job that he wants to do. Advice?
