For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Our adventure begins
My son signed his paperwork to go take his Nuc Engineering test on December 2nd last night. We know that no matter what he won't be able to ship until late August 2014 due to his age and birthdate. He HATES being the baby of his class, but in this circumstance it kinda helps so that he will be home with us the summer after graduation and will get to see everyone before he ships, including family out west, and of course he will get to spend LOTS of time with his girl. I think she is the one who is going to have more problems with all of this than us, his sisters, dad, and I are very happy for him. Of course we have started the process of on the right foot....lol. He lost his wallet with his license and debit card prior to going to the recruiter's office last night, so we have to call the bank Monday and go to the DMV next week as well. Thank God they already had his information from when he went to take his ASVAB. Right now we are just asking for LOTS of prayers that he passes his test and can get the job he wants, if not then he is talking about doing the engineering assistant until he gets his engineering degree.

Best of luck to your son and let us know how it goes. Mine leaves 7/1 and its also going Nuke. Be prepared for the rollercoaster ride of emotions. N4M is an invaluable resource and you can always come here for support.
