My Son leaves for BC September 30th, he is graduating high school in 2 weeks so we have been busy with getting this Big Acheivement and I have had many mommy moments already regarding this big event in his life, how is my boy already graduating high school... but i know once graduation is here and gone, then begins the count down to bc, trying to squeeze in as much time as i can, doing as much as we can with him before he goes, I am so proud of him, and i am excited for the experiences he will have with this journey in his new young adult life, but so hard to let my boy out into the world with out mommy close behind to field the bad and protect him from the world ...... its hard to let go, i cry at night and try not to do it infront of him so he doesnt feel bad about making mommy sad, i just cant imagine what life will be like around here without him, im sure i will be on here alot more now that time is getting closer
it helps to read that i am not the only one who feels this way and to get as much information as i can to be as prepared as i can be when the day gets here,

Sassy,my son leaves in Sept also. He is older but still my child. For the last year my family has had health issues(my mom, myself and my husband). We are better now but my son was wonderful. He did so much and I don't know what I would have done without him. I am so proud of him and can't wait for him to start his new journey BUT he is still my child and I still want to protect him. When does your son leave for BC? What date in Sept?

Hi Sassy,
My son leaves me in Sept 2013 as well he is sched to leave labor day weekend. My husband and his two sisters are very excited for him, I must admist though just thinking about him leaving I start to tear up. I am very proud of him and look forward to this new chapter in his life. He will be 19 when he leaves in September.
I beleive that our kids have to make their own choices whether we agree or not. I do support him fully but as a mom I am nervous and excited at the same time.

Hi sassymom, I have 4 children 3 boys and 1 girl. My oldest child/son just graduated high school this June and is leaving for BC on Sept. 17th. I always find myself crying when I just think about the actual "day" he will be leaving. I know and I tell myself that I will be doing that a lot when he is gone. I know I will need to adjust to not seeing him and hearing from him for the next 30 days while in BC. I try to cheer myself up by just thinking and looking forward to the day I will be seeing him again on PIR day. It really does help to talk to other moms about it. I am so grateful I found this website.

Hi GG. My son also just graduated from high school this June, and is leaving leaving on Sept.17th. I also have 4 children, but 3 girls and 1 boy. My future sailor is my only son. We seem to have a lot in common. :) We will get through this. My daughter went through Air Force Basic Training last year, and is in her tech school now. I think having gone through that has helped me to toughen up a bit. Being a military mom is not easy, but I sure am proud. I have a few shirts and jackets that I had custom made that read "Proud Air Force Mom". I can't wait until my son graduates BC and I can have one that reads, "Proud Navy Mom". We are so lucky that our sons are healthy, smart and brave enough to be able to take on this challenge. ((hugs))
My son will leave for MEPS on 9/23 and be sworn in 9/24. We are going to be present for the swearing in. I work for a non profit and am over Christmas and Thanksgiving. We start applications for Christmas assistance on 9/23. I hope that I can give my clients the attention that they need and deserve without crying. I am taking off work the next day for the swearing in. My son has assisted with the process at work the last 2 years and has been a huge help. This year I will miss him in so many ways but I am sooooo proud of him and his decision to join the Navy
Hi!
My son will be leaving on September 13th. I am very excited for him and looking forward to all the stories he will have to tell. My dad, my fiance, and his dad were in the navy. I am hoping my son will make a career out of it. He is the middle child of 5, 3 boys and 2 girls. I am extremely proud of him. This is a great adventure and learning experience for him and all the recruits going to bc. I hope all learn and gain life lessons as they go through the steps to becoming a sailor serving in the US Navy.
40 days until he leaves for boot camp. Enjoying the time that we(family) are spending together. He has taken his grandmother across the state to a casino. She pays all of the expense. Hope they have fun and that she doesn't give him a hard time. She is very good at that
