Graduations to your son! They are both on the same track, it's great to know they will be there together. Good Luck!

Hi Tyler'sMom,

I know the feeling!  My son leaves for BC on July 11 from Brooklyn NY.  I know how hard it is because I too am going through it too..  It seems that the days and weeks are going so fast.. Right now we are in the middle of planning his 18th birthday, The next week is prom and then  2weeks later graduation.  I feel like everything is being crammed into one month. Then he is home only for a few weeks in July and leaves.  I am so proud of him and at the same time worried.

Thank you Sal's Mom... Tyler joined last year right before his 18th birthday.  He will graduate June 7th and leave July 2nd.  He won't be home for his 19th birthday (July 28th) and I know it will be difficult.  I am very proud of him.  I try really hard not to over think the details.  While he seems mentally and physically prepared and eager to start his new journey, sometimes I wonder if he really knows what he is getting in to. I think he is ready for it all, I'm just trying to be!  Best of luck to your son!

Hi Tyler'smom,

Thank you for the Luck!  Good Luck to Tyler too!  They are both going to need it!  Sal is all excited to go and can't wait.  I feel exactly like you.  I hope that they do great! We are all in this together.  So remember you are not alone.  We are our sons strength and courage.  Some how no matter how much it hurts us inside we manage and try hard not to show them.  How do I get my son's picture on this site.  I would like to post his picture so that you can see him.

Sal signed his contract on Feb 11th. my husband was there to see him do this.. they didn't give me the papers till a week later to put my signature on it. He said it was my 50th birthday gift! I almost keeled over!  "What" was my reply "Why"  was my second reply.. We had everything set for college.  His answer was, " mom", I have always wanted to do this..I just wanted to make you happy.. but the navy is my dream.. He found out his job was IS and he was thrilled! This is what I want to do! Was his answer.  He also said I want to honor grandpa. My dad was in the navy in the 1950s during the Korean war, My husband was in the Navy in the late 1970s early 80's, he was a Petty Officer Second Class during the hostage crisis his ship was the USS Constellation.

I had along conversation with Sal explaining that this is a different world and is he sure about his decision before I sign the papers.  He said, "MOM THIS IS WHAT I WANT TO DO!!"  With that my husband told me he spoke to him and told him that it was no trip to Disney!  He said that Sal was mature enough to know and understand the value, honor, and responsibilty it takes to be a part of the Navy!  He said he was there to guide him and make sure that he understood that Responsibilty and that he was proud of him.  As am I, but as a mom, i was just concerned and making sure that this was what was truly in his heart as well as in his mind. Plus he is my baby!

So Tyler'sMom I truly understand where your'e coming from!  We are MOMS first and Always and our sons are our heart and soul.  I am sure the Navy will make them into great men!  Afterall my dad and my husband were products of the US NAVY and I love the men that they are.

Sal's mom, thank you for the touching story. I would love to see pictures of Sal. To upload pictures, sign in, click "my page", click "photos", then click "upload photos". You will be able to upload photos from your computer. You should be able to make one of these pictures your profile picture. I hope this helps, if you are unable to make it work or if you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Tyler is being honored next week by the minor league baseball team for joining the Navy directly after high school. I will be posting pictures!

Tyler'sMom,   Thank you so much it worked.. I just uploaded some of them now.

CONGRATULATIONS to Tyler!! That is so Fantastic!!  You and your family must be so proud of him and to think that this is only one of many more to come!

It is truly such an honor!  Congratulations to you and your family.   Just enjoy the moment and bring plenty of kleenex tissues.  I think that each and every moment that passes will be so precious that we won't know how to hold back the tears.

Thanks Tyler'sMom for a JULY post. I've been waiting for my peeps!

Mine graduated from high school last week and had his last day of school yesterday. He goes July 10. Sal'sMom...we'll be hangin' together until September! : )

My DEP'er is my second sailor. His brother has been in for almost 4 years.

As a "veteran" mom, keep tuned to this site! Don't rely on FaceBook. There are people here that are not on FB...and are in the "same place" that you are. Your in a safe place here.

Be aware...there are "loving" people who are going to make comments to you that are going to cut you to your core. Stay strong for your SR/sailor...you will be their biggest cheerleader.

I won't lie...boot camp for the mom's is HELL. But together, we will make it.

Everybody have a great day!!!!

Thank you very much landlockedmom.... I have a hard time reading anything without crying.  Tyler has been in ROTC from 3 years and is being honored tonight at school.  Putting on his ROTC uniform is something he's done weekly for years but for some reason, this morning I had a mimi - meltdown knowing the next uniform will be FOR REAL!

I know bootcamp is going to be HELL times 100!!!  Not sure how I will make it through bootcamp, Tyler is my oldest son (I have a 16 year old as well) I have always been a very protective mother, Outside of family, Tyler has only spent the night with one or two friends in his entire life!  Shhhh!

As I write this, I cry and wonder how I'll be able to do it!  I welcome all the supprt.

Have a fantastic day!

Landlockedmom(Jo)

LOL! It will be a pleasure hangin with you! You may be my life line.  Since you already have experienced BC life with your first son.  Thank you!

My son graduated on Sunday. Many emotions, tears. The days are flying toward his ship day of July 8th.
So proud of him but when I think about what's ahead I'm both nervous and excited for him and us as new members of the Navy family
