Hello All and a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! I hadn't seen a group formed yet for our ship, so I thought I would start one (Ship 02, Div 911 - USS Reuben James (PIR Feb 4, 2011)) so we all can be in touch! We have a special connection with band, choir, and drill team!  It will be great to share our experiences, stories and plans to meet up for PIR in Feb!  I'm a new Navy mom, and missing my daughter greatly right about now (as I am sure we all are missing our loved ones!), but am so very proud.  Let's chat!

Hey Sherry, welcome aboard to Div. 911 woo hoo!
Thanks!  What an adventure, huh?!
Hi! Did any of you receive a call from your SR? I was hoping to get one but didn't:( Can't wait until February. Don't know who is more excited him or us:)
Nope...no phone call, as much as I had hoped for one as my Christmas gift! (As we all did!) When did your son ship out for bootcamp? My daughter left on Dec 6. I understand that their call home should be sometime around their 4th or 5th week but I was still hoping and praying for Christmas! ;0)
My son shipped out on November 29th. Maybe I will get a call tomorrow (hoping) ;-)
My son shipped out on the 29th as well. His quick phone call that evening said he'd call again in about 3 weeks but he didn't actually start training until 12/5 or 12/6.

Hey Aprilan -- I sent a friend request to you last night! Hmmm ... 1st call home... I MISSED THE CALL!  Can you believe that?!  I was so bummed! My battery was very low so I had plugged the phone into its docking station, walked down the hallway to peek into my daughter's room, and hear my phone go off on my way back down the hall! The phone got stuck in the docking station and her call went on into voicemail... One of the few things she said the last night before shipping out was, "Just remember to be sure and answer your phone!"  Uggghhh!  (I share this with you all just to let you know ... it could be worse! LOL!) ;o)

Needless to say, I have had my phone with me and am careful not to "dock" it unless it is in the middle of the night!  ;o)  So looking forward to her (next) phone call home!

Aprilan & Sherry - awesome you received a call last night! woo hoo. Sorry to hear you missed yours Sherry - that really stinks. I have my cell phone in my pocket......lol

Sorry...no, I didn't get a call last night... It was that first call home when they got to the RTC that I was talking about. My apologies... I certainly did not want to give anyone false hope! I would expect to possibly get my call next week or the week after, since my Sailor girl arrived there Dec 6th (4-5 wks into BC is my understanding). ;o)
So have moms of Ship 2 Div 911 started to get calls??
Hi Rosie-- no, sorry, no calls home for us yet as far a I'm aware. :,( I was told we should expect our "first" call (not counting that very first 30 second call when they 1st arrived at RTC) to come after they've been there at least 4-5 weeks. I guess we will have to wait just a little while longer and be excited to hear some news from the other members of this post! I'm hangin' in there! ;o)

Hi gang!  My son is also with Div 911.  Looking forward to getting to know you all and comparing stories and such!  Here's hoping the phones will ring and the postmen will be loaded with letters for us all!
