So I've finally heard back that my husband is back in a division and will graduate May 20! My question is: does anyone know about the being able to go to graduation? I had gotten a password for the gate pass for his original graduation date but now that it's changed I don't know if I can get it now. Has anyone else had this happen to them too? Did you get to go to graduation?

hi Wills! yeah stress fractured are very common... I don't think he will be sent home. My sister broke her right leg and still in a cast since january... it's very difficult for her to accept the fact that it happened a week prior to her graduation... She is trying to be strong in RCU and told us that she won't give up!... I am hoping for your husband's fast recovery...

My husband called friday to let me know that he is now moved to RCU with stress fractures in both his knees. I spoke to him again yesterday and he said that today he goes for an MRI and physical therapy. I'm very worried about him, he was so excited to finally be in boot camp and said he was enjoying it very much. I'm afraid that he's going to be sent home because of this and not be able to re-enlist again. Can anyone tell me if it's common to be able to stay and recover from something like this? And if he is sent home if for sure he can re-enlist again after recovery?

My boyfriend was suppose to graduate tomorrow: 1/14. Last week my boyfriend was sick in the hospital with a pneumonia so he missed his run test, another test & battle stations.... The last time I heard from him was last saturday when he told me he was going back to boot camp. He didn't know if he would still be able to graduate on 1/14 since he missed important things while he was sick. I was really hoping that "no news is good news", after not hearing anything from him all week. Yesterday I gave his mom the number to call public affairs & she was told he wasn't graduating 1/14 & that they wouldn't know when he would graduate & that he will not have a graduation. His mom said something with his leg was bothering him.... I have no idea whats going on but hope to have a letter or call soon. I think my boyfriend will be sent to ship 6.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear this news of your husband. I can only imagine how tough it is to be in RCU. I remember when my daughter was there and what a roller coaster it was with her emotions. It is a depressing place to be and it is difficult for them to stay motivated. Everyone that my daughter met in RCU went home - yes, everyone. It was often tough not to burst out in tears when she called and was so down all those weeks. Just remember that "all things happen for a reason" and there is another path that your husband will take and all will work out. Stick together and support one another and life will be good. It will probably be tough for him when he returns home - even a short time at BC changes our loved ones. Be patient and be sure to let him know that he is not a failure. Some want out because they can't handle it - his body is injured and that is an entirely different thing. He will be ok through the love of his family.

My daughter was medically discharged and she is doing better. I know she endured more than most at BC and tried her best, but her body said no. She was eventually moved back in to a new division after 7 wks in RCU, but the wk she was to graduate she fell on the last lap of her final PFA. That was it for her - then it took about 2 wks to process her out. It was so hard and she did feel like a failure. She had a rough time readjusting to civilian life but is coming along now. She is now enrolled in college and has an interest in becoming a counselor. Hopefully, her future will allow her to help others in a significant way.

You will get through this!
