I thought we needed to take a little vacation. (See photo above.)

What's new?

We're still here in Virginia Beach, leaving in the morning. I'll have to check on our way over the bridge, it was dark when we arrived. I got to see the base too. We were in the hangars and he showed us all of the jets and where he works. We got to see the barracks. His is empty except for him, the ship left a few weeks ago he has to wait a month to join everyone.

You picked a good day to leave, it stormed all day. We're staying at Navy Lodge. Apparently the power is going to be off all day and night on base while they upgrade the grid on Thursday; we'll be gone.

Looking forward to seeing this area in the summer.

Happy New Year!

Had a wonderful trip to Virginia Beach.  Spent Friday night through this morning.  My son had watch friday night until 6 saturday morning but was off for the rest of our visit.  Finally got a tour of the base.  Got to see alot of the fighters from some of the carriers (he thought).  Also saw the barracks where he lived when he was on base.  Walked on the beach, did some shopping for things the need for the house.  Did a few projects for them.  Wonderful visit!  Oh and I saw the actual sign for Oceaa!  I was very excited to finally see it in person!  When we went down for the wedding there wasn't enough time to even drive past the base :(

Hope you all had a great Christmas!

Oh almost forgot--as we were crossing the bridge to VIrginia Beach there was an aircraft carrier moored to the left (Norfolk I presume).  It had a big 77 all lite up on it.  I told my husband "That's the Bush".  And of course being a good husband he challenged me..How do you know that?  I said, very proudly, Because of Navy 4 Moms!!!

I don't know about churches but we will be in VA Beach also...arriving late Christmas day and staying until the 28th. My son is basically alone in the barracks. His ship deployed last week but he has to finish c school. I hope he doesn't have to work or be on duty. No one seems to know the answer.

Does anyone know where I can buy flame retardant sheets and blankets? They're not easy to come by. He asked for another set and a warm blanket for the ship.

We are heading to Virginia Beach for Christmas!  Son has to stay near base.  Not on Duty but has to stay in the area.  Is there anyone here that might know of a Church having a late Christmas Eve service?  All I can find on the web are 4:30 and 7 pm services.  Really like the later candle light service. We are not real particular on the denomination.  Thanks.
