LOL yes it is......anywhere from a week to 3-4 weeks......depending.....they will take on supplies and parts before they take on the mail....so be prepared!
sjtina, if you have his address on the ship he is on, you can write, it's the same postage but if you're sending a package, it takes custom papers and cost $12.95
Can you write to a sailor at sea?
By the way I think I had mentioned that I have been making pillowcases with the Heads at Ease group on here. If anyone would like one for their deployed sailor let me know. I can send it to you for you to send to them for Christmas. I have lots of fabric right now so let me know.
Son & DIL got approved for their Mortgage!! They close next Wednesday. Yeah!!
Have a great Thanksgiving all of you. We will be remembering our troops/sailors and thanking God that they are willing to sacrifice for our freedom!
If there's a chance to do anything with 'hazard' in the description, he'll be signing up for sure. Glad to know he won't have much to spend money on. I can't believe the food he buys on base and he's skinny as a rail. He's going to suffer fast-food withdrawal for sure, just like boot. Wish I could be there to see it :)
Getting the will and POA's notarized today, taking care of business...although it's painful to think of.
Sounds like my son will need a car when he gets back from this deployment. His car will not make the drive there, almost 10 hours. Not to mention it's a gas-guzzler. He has a few thousand saved and said he would be able to put a lot away when he's on the ship. Do they get extra pay when they're deployed?
Jersey is a 6 hour drive, but he comes home every chance he gets. I thought he would get tired of the drive, but not so far
My nephew is in VR-56 squadron and has been there about three weeks. He loves being so close to us in Raleigh!
My son also is deployed at the moment and when they come back, he will be back at Oceana........not attached to a squadron....that I know of, he's a Structural Aircraft Mechanic so he probably works on everything lol
