Thanks for the links Holly.  Any upbeat pics of us somewhere where we don't have to worry about our kids??!!  I hear Key west is good!  Maybe we should re-visit that one!

I am trying really hard to hold it together.  Only cried once when talking to son.  He sounds so serious about getting ready and taking care of his family!  Hard to believe he has only been a sailor for a year!  This is the anniversary weekend of his PIR!  What a difference a year makes!

The Red Cross sets up several shelters for them inland.  They are taken by bus.  If they are anything like the ones I've seen in TX and OK, they provide meals, water, internet, showers, cots, plug ins for cell phone chargers and some have telephones. Most even have facilities for pets. As they check in their name is posted on the Red Cross website for families to check. The hotels are probably full.

I thought my son was going to come home, but he is afraid he wont be able to get back. Which is a good point, but he isnt telling that he has another place to go. Wher are the guys living on base going?

CeeCee-Are all the sailors deployed?  Do you have the address?  We may be able to get someone to go by after and see if all is ok.

Just praying that it isn't as bad as the picture!!

My son spent the morning searching for a battery operated radio!!  Final found one.  I told him if he decided they should leave I would [ay for a hotel room for them.  It is cheaper then a funeral.  I wouldn't want them to stay because they don't have money for a room!

OMG...there's nothing there!! Praying for all your sailors at Oceana. My son, fortunately, isn't there.....never thought I'd say, I'm glad he's deployed!!!! But his truck is parked in a garage at a house he rents with some other sailors, and they're not there.....and it's in Norfolk!!!

I'm trying not to have an anxiety attack about all this hurricane stuff but I wanted to share a picture with you about my last experience with a hurricane.  The last time a hurricane made landfall on the mainland US was Hurricane Ike, Sept 13, 2008.  In the top left corner was my mother's house before and in the lower left corner is the after.
