Well CeeCee, send my son off on a carrier!!! He just turned 19, got a credit card in March after graduating boot camp, and maxed it out mostly in restaurants (with a sprinking of NEX). He doesn't have 2 nickels to rub together!!! I guess a good ship deployment would allow him to get his debt paid up!!!

Valtamer- bet my son could coax him out for a good time! There must be a happy medium!

My son also was not a saver while on base....now that he's deployed on a ship....he's saving all kinds of money LOL

Yes, the first thing my son told us when we went to the beach is.......no swearing......it's illegal LOL

My son is having fun on the weekends going to the boardwalk, there is tons to do. Free concerts, fireworks, beach, ocean. Since we live close to the Jersey Shore I am I not surprised that he would want to spend a lot of time there.

Funny that in the last few pages of posts, the idea of needing a car was brought up. One of the first things my son told me was that he saw he was going to need a car on this base!

absolutely valtameri. He did say he made friends with a guy a few rooms away.

He was telling how virginia laws were different than ours. Speeding is a criminal offense and cursing has a $50.00 fine. We plan on driving down in October so looks like we might have to put the hubby out on the fishing pier. My son said we picked a good hotel. Hopefully it is still warm then.

Hi there! Just joined this group. My son just got to Oceana last night for C School. ATO rate. I had been addicted to N4Ms when he was in boot camp/ A school in Pensacola. Had to "seperate" from N4Ms. My son is not one who volunteers any info and it really was eatting at me that other people get news from their kids. Wanted to give it another shot.

that's too bad because of a couple guys.......happy birthday to your son anyway!!!

I agree with Cindy, there is someone there that knows the addresses......my son got his right away.......it might also be in their paperwork.....can't remember....it's been a year since my son got there!!

Comment by Valtameri on July 29, 2011 at 7:45pm
