My daughter just got orders for the USS Oakhill. She is still at C-School in San Diego. No report date yet.
KatsMom-my son is at ACU 4. He has been there just over a year. It took a very short time for him to discover that the mail delivery there was very, very slow. It took a couple weeks for him to get packages from us. So he got his own P.O. box at the nearest UPS store which is just down the road. Now he gets his mail from us in just 2 or 3 days. I would recommend that your daughter do the same.
Hi All, my sailor is assigned to ACU 2; she just got to Little Creek a couple of weeks ago. I wonder if anyone knows how they get their mail. She insists the mail has to be sent to the command, but I can't imagine the command would want to handle all that. The Sailors that live in the barracks should have PO Boxes available somewhere. Does anyone know?
proudk~I friend requested you...I'd love to chat :) Happy Monday everyone. Hope Father's Day was a good one for you all.
michie-good to hear from you. How does your son like ACU 4 so far? Our son really likes working there. What job/rate is your son? We are from Oregon and you are right about "the other side". It is a bit different.
My sailor is in VA. Talked to him Tuesday and Wednesday. Nothing since then any way finding if they have left out? Or pictures to see ship on?
My son is heading to VA soon. He just got his orders and is ACU 4 like proudkmom's . I look forward to friending you and finding out about this next stage. We're from CA so it will be nice to experience "the other side" for a while.
Are there any moms out there with sons/daughters attached to the amphibious construction battalion 2?
Theresa,
How does one do that? my son is attached to the USS Ashland, however he just got in SAR school and left Little Creek on Sunday to go to Swimmer school in Jacksonville, FL... After that 4-5 weeks he will be back to the ship before they deploy later in the summer... I would love to meet others with sailors on the Ashland.
Hello, bella2039
There are several places near Little Creek that is very nice to stay. Norfolk and Va. Beach areas are nice, but with the warmer weather coming, it may be very hard to find any area that is not over populated. As most people whether they are in the military or not will want to be at the ocean front. Then you will have new military families and moving in/out and that will increase the population in the area, also. As we live in NC, we have a place at Nags Head, NC that we go to in the summer, for laying on the ocean front, fishing, swimming, and just relaxing with the family, shopping, boat rides, water parks, very nice places to eat at, whether you want to be over the ocean or inside some of the area restaurants. So I'm not to sure how Va. Beach/Norfolk area is, but the time we were there, it was very crowded, but mainly all the people we met, was very nice. I hope this helps, but like I said, we're from NC and we love Nags Head, because that's where our family goes and stay in the summer.
