There seems to be so many of you lately!!! It is wonderful that you will have each other's support while going thru the process together.

Thought I would start this thread so you can at least connect and share stories together. Seems like there is a fair amount of you in Great Lakes and just as many more trying to decide if you can more to Great Lakes.

No problem! When do you think you'll be moving here?
Naval Station Great Lakes Navy Wives Clubs is having a meet-and-greet on Dec. 12, 11 a.m., in Bldg. 1, Room 15B. For information call Valerie McDonald, President, 313-410-7170.
Thanks for the info Mary
do you know if babies are allowed? My husband has duty that day.
Did anyone go to that GL meet & greet??
I'm not sure who went to the Meet and Greet but babies and children are always welcomed ----- these clubs are all about supporting the family.

If you did not go to the December meeting, you might want to call and ask about the next one. it's a great way to meet other families and stay connected with things that are happening.
I am new to this side. My husband arrived at RTC on December 14th. He's going to be an ET. His recruiter told us that his schooling was probably accompanied, but couldn't tell us for certain. I really hope it is. Being a "single" mom to two kids is tough. He's only been gone a week and a half but it feels like an eternity. I'm counting down the days til I see my hubby again. This site has eased so many of my concerns! I've got a huge list of questions for him when we go up to see him in February. Don't want to bombard him with anything while he's still in training.
He probably won't have answer for you at this stage cricket as they are focused on one thing...training to be a sailor at this point but you will find some great answers within this group about his job, schooling, housing, GL and...just about everything else you need to know. Welcome!
Thanks so much! I'm a planner and it's difficult because I have NO idea what's going to happen. I haven't even heard from him yet. Almost two weeks and the only thing I've got so far is the letter for his graduation date and his address. Oh well, I guess we do what we have to do.
Hi Cricket926, My husband is in same schooling as yours. His PIR is 02/12/2101. I agree being a single mom sucks. We have a 6 month old. Our recruiter told us we will find out if we get to move to GL during schooling when husband gets his schooling orders. So I am thinking we should know Mid Jan. (I hope) It totally sucks not knowing and getting answers right away. I wish you the best of luck.
I was reading through is contract the other night, and it says on there his school will be at GL. I hope that doesn't change. It's taken a long time to get used to a move to the cold (We're from Charleston, SC). What division is your husband in? I couldn't imagine being alone with a 6 month old! My girls are almost 5 and almost 2. But at least we have something to keep us busy, right?
We are out in Oregon and it doesnt get very cold here. My husband is on ship 12 div 85. Our daughter does keep me busy, but it will all payoff in the end! I am pretty sure all schooling is in GL.
