How long is A-school for FC's? I realize its been posted before but for some reason I can't find it. Thanks!
my husband was in GL exactly 1yr, including boot camp.
if you choose to live in military housing make sure your husband tries his best to get a town home not an apartment.
After boot camp he will check in to A school, literally down the street. They will give him all the information he needs to get started (maybe not right away but should with in the first week) He will have to class up (don't recall what its called but its a certain amount of time, possible a test and signatures he has to collect before he can live off base)
He will set every thing up on his end...find a place (they will help him if he chooses military housing...if not you will need to find a place) take him to the housing and make sure all the paper work is done. He will choose to have the military come pack you up or they give you X amount of $ for you to move your own stuff (if you move it save all receipts) they will not ship your car.
Thanks the basics. It may have changed a little but probably not too much. I loved GL, its what you make of it. I was able to make some good friends of the wives my husband went to school with and I'm sure some of them will be life long friends. Get on FB and check out the military great lakes pages and the military housing community is forestal, you can spy on what the houses look like...
