2. since he is in AECF can i be with him during ATT school or during A school?

3. if we planning to stay together will that be outside the base?

4.if he completes his bootcamp in june 2nd week ,can i be with him from july onwards ?

5. if he is not allowed to stay with me then can he be with me atleast on weekends during his ATT and A school?

1.  That will depend on how long his A school is for.  You want know that until about week 8 or 9 of bootcamp.

2.  No.  That could be a time that he can start filling out the proper paperword for you to be with him.  ATT school is the do's and don't of after boot camp life and to get them familiar with what to expect.  (My understanding only).

3.  I am not sure of the answer for this one.  My son is single Sailor.

4.  Don't know that one either.

5.  During A school you can see him when they are allowed to leave base.  That must be accompanied by another sailor but I don't know all the details.

There are several people on here (AntiM for one and others) that will be able to give you more advice.  It depends on the length of A school for several of your questions to be answered.  Good Luck and all will work out with time.

Thank u so much Connie ~Matt's Mom~

1. That totally depends on how long his A + ATT school is, my husband is there right now as an FC and his tentative grad date is in march.  As long as the schooling is over 20 weeks the navy will pay to move you/reimburse you. Being in the AECF field, it will be that long with the holds involved on top of the normal schooling time.

2. No, well that's not completely true, if you decided to move yourself - paying your own way - then yes by all means you can move there.  Being with him on the other hand is another thing.  He has to have 2 liberty buddies to get off of base, unless he puts in a buddy deviation chit but thats only for weekends and takes up to 10 days to get approved. (It sucks big time trust me, i got stuck all day on base on saturday...nothing to do but sit in the same place and walk around) Also, they have watch every certain amount of days, being that, he can't leave the barracks the whole day and has to sleep in the live ashore room if he does eventually live off base.  (Also sucks big time).

3. Yes it could be. You will 99% likely have to be married for his live ashore chit/package to get approved, and for the buddy deviation as well.  Even if friends come up it is very unlikely he will get it approved, only family.

4. Also depends on how long the live ashore chit takes to go up the chain and get approved.  I've heard anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months.  It's going on two weeks for my chit and still has no word on it.  I've heard an average of a month to a little bit more.

5. Again with the buddy deviation, he needs 2 sailors to go off base with him, otherwise there's no getting off until phase 3. Phase one is the worst phase because there is quite literally no freedom :/ Phase two is required for the live ashore chit to get approved and thats when they can wear civies and drink alcohol.  Phase three is when they can go home for the weekends (within a 300 mile radius).

hi....

i came to know 1 thing by ur post that to get approved live ashore with ur husband is not that easy.Everything sounds so difficult, better to wait till he get into bootcamp and graduate. I really can make out, how u might have gone through about all this stuff. First we will miss our husband n over that we will not be able to be with him... anyways wait and watch is best thing to do now... i hope everything will go fine very soon at ur end..:-)

Recommend you just wait to find that info out when it is closer to him being in "A" School as things change all the time.
thank u Angie... best bet is to wait till bootcamp graduation.
yep..than when he gets to the "A" School base he will find out what he needs to do to move off base.  Things change all the time....so what ever info you find out now...will be outdated by the time your PIR comes.
wait do you mean you're thinking about divorcing him because he's going in the navy when you say 'i have doubts regarding staying with him'?

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah no way dear... lol

i said in context since it looks so many hurdles to stay with him during ATT and A school, i m giving a second thought of staying with him during school time.. But if i m lucky enough n we get live ashore package fast then i will shift to GL as soon as it is possible.... actually i want to be with him immediately after his boot camp...cos i need his help to join some university for further studies...

how u finding GL.. did u hang around the city?

what do you mean "cos i need his help to join some university for futher studies"?   If you mean him giving you his GI Bill...he can't do that for at least 6 years, than he has to reenlist for at least 4 more BEFORE he can transfeer his GI Bill benfits.

He doesn't get any benifits for you to go to college.

aah no... not that way dear.. i have to apply for around 100 plus universities... i don have anyone in US... other thn him... so i neeed him around to guide me about all the application stuff dear... by the way whats GI bill? i have no idea abt it
