For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My son's orders state he will be going to A school as an FC, his orders are from Jan-Jul.

Mine leaves for BC in 16 days, then on to A School for AECF.

Sounds like she will be an ET. Although both ratings deal with electronics, ET actually has it in the name.

I was surprised the orders were for schooling all in GL, I thought just the initial 9 weeks were there. And she told me she was told her training will be in electronics, which she was told prior to PIR

Also, because FC is different than ET, and they don't know which they will be initially, the orders may be cut to reflect the longer school. In any case, she will be there longer than the states seat time, they always are.

Did you factor in the 9 weeks of ATT? There will be a week or two of indoc up front too. The orders may encompass estimated hold times too. Orders for a training command are quite fluid in reality, stay flexible, positive and go with the flow because it is not under anyone's control but the Navy. I know that is an unsatisfying answer, sorry!

AntiM- my daughter said her orders were for A school in GL and it was 203 days Jan-Aug. that's a lot longer than 17 weeks! Do you have any explanation as to why that might be?

ATT is nine weeks.

Et A school is 17 weeks, FC is 19 weeks. Expect hold times between schools, and potentially while waiting for orders for C school. It can take up to a year.

ATT is the prep school, and then they go to A school. That is much longer. ET C schools vary a great deal, and are in a number of locations. I was an ET, my main C school was in GA and was over six months long. I went to several others between commands later in my enlistment. An ET can work on radar, communications, crypto, and much more. Think of it as "everything tech".
LAG is describing FC C schools.
