Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Mary, sometimes I forget that today's modern Navy doesn't have a Dark Side. LOL, forgive the forgetful old sailor!

Am I more of an antique than you? heeee.

I was thinking if I posted a photo of Steve and myself in the history group...you would be calling it an antique photo!

oh = it's been years since I've heard that expression, I completely forgot! Of course, it's not happening in today's Navy! (wink-wink)

CCR, check out my photos and let me know if any of them would be appropriate for the history page. I too am a history buff ... ancient mostly, and early American. And anything to do with archeaology.

Blanket party ... ah. not supposed to exist or happen in the Navy. you didn't hear it from me. I don't know if such things are even common anymore. forget "allowed", they are not. but things happen. If a sailor is a scumbag, theft is one reason, his shipmates may encourage him to change his ways. Tossing a blanket over the head and getting rough ... but as I said, this is NOT allowed. I know you can get busted ten ways from Sunday if you participate or know about it and not report it. Don't worry, it is probably more of an old sea story than the truth these days. Dang it, i apologize if this scares anyone. Just think of how dumb kids, boys, can get in high school or college. Like that.

I don't know if I have requested this already - forgive me if I have - but if any of you have historic photos of ships, subs, planes, ports, family or yourselves - would you please be so kind as to post them on the Navy History page? I get very excited about History and can stay ALL day in museums - I'd love it if you'd participate. thank you in advance. Carol

OK Anti M, is a blanket party like what happened to Willie Nelson with his wife and the sheets?

The AECF program does reward experience... I had two years of college credits, so I was an E-3 right off the bat. Also got to be the EPO educational PO for our company. My nephew did too, Id told him that might happen. He liked helping the other kids, that was cool.

I know! self-paced electronics... horrors! although I would have been interested in going to sea. Just to check it out and to see if I could hack it.

I maybe wrong but I don't thing recruits in AECF enter boot camp as E1 (?) Nick went in as an E2 but depending on college credits, ROTC, referrals to the Navy, Eagle Scout, etc. they have an opportunity to go in at a higher rate.

Steve also did two full years of school and got his E5 while in school...PO Indoc class? Self paced computer classes at A school?!!! Female FCs can serve on ships now?!!! Yes, things have changed a tad! LOL

Karen, that is a good question. For those that took the PO indoc class later - is it six months from the time of class??? Where's Nancy at this morning?! She knows the answer :-D
