Kelly - on the day that our son graduated from A school...he had to go back to school after the graduation, we did not even have lunch with him that day! He did have liberty for the weekend so we picked him up when liberty was called but he did not have orders to leave until a couple of weeks later. "Usually" after A school, they will get some leave time - depending on when their school check in date is.

Oh Hoppi, sorry to hear of your ills...listen to the doctors!

Tomahawk orders are cool, must be able to get a "top" secret clearance. I didn't think they could accomplish a clearance in 90 days...lol. I'll send you some info Kelly...it's spelled Tomahawk. San Diego is awesome :-D

Hi Mabel, 4 years already! We could have used you and vice-versa I suppose!

Karen, so its Anchors Aweigh now?

And Jackie, John has been fortunate to have family - first in chicago and now in Norfolk! best of luck for his 3 C schools.

Patrick got a tour of a ship in San Diego on his birthday, Jan 2nd by a couple of guys there. Nice to have some friendly A school faces there, I bet.

Welcome Mabel and Pam and Julie and Kristen! I'm so behind on my welcoming duties here!!! LOL

Wow - your son has been in for 4 years and he is just getting his first deployment...how does he like it so far?

Hoppi, get well soon! Hope you feel better.

We have miserable drivelly snow right now. It is warm out, so it is sticking and melting as it is falling. Which makes slush. Yerg.

ET A school took me six months, longer actually, because I was sick and the old program ran the nukes through Glakes. We were constantly being bumped back so they could have our seats. Much better now! But I did like the instructors; we all aspired to instructor billets later in our career.

C school depends on the next set of orders, what the new command requires. Unless the school is a long one ... mine was over six months (secure voice) and so was a set of PCS orders in itself. Really difficult to anticipate what the needs of the Navy may be, they request sailors to fill billets several years in advance, plus it depends on who reenlists when and where. A sailor does best if they fill out a realistic dream sheet (orders requests, LOL) and do as well as they can in school.

Oh yeah Nancy - Combat Weapons System is a great place :-)

So nice to have an email for them - when they are able to use it. Do you have your webcam set up?!!

There is no way of knowing what orders will be available tomorrow much less when your sailor may complete A school. I can tell you of a GM who recently was "Top" grad in his class and he did not want to be stationed on a carrieer and he wanted West Coast orders....yes he just checked into that big ship in Norfolk this week.

All our students can do is - try to be in top forum in school, inspections, etc. so they can rank well in the class and then if enough orders come thru...it might make a difference.

Hi all, hope everyone is well. I've been serious MIA and need to catch up!

Early reports from our sailor about C school have been good but he is in class from 5 pm - midnite. There is only 5 students in his class - three are fleet returnees. So in essence, he will only be competing against one sailor for orders.

Kelly - you can say where he got orders to and what system he will be working with. We'd love to hear! There is a C school graduation but it is small time - even smaller than A school as the class sizes are very small. If you went to A school graduation, you may have seen a mix of rates in the graduation class. C school is going to be strictly FC in your son's case.

If he owns a laptop, be sure to buy and install lo-jack, a theft tracking device. There can be a lot of theft in the barracks (ships) in A school.
