I'm not sure where this picture was taken Pine but it sure looks like pretty country...if you are dressed for it!

KaRrie - it is fun to see adults break out and be like kids...especially when they are raised in the south and snow is a special event. Of course, if you hang out in GL long enough...not sure how special snow really is!!

Pine, she very well could be in Phase II now, some sailors move into it fairly quicky but I do not remember what the mileage allowance is from base during liberty. Hope all is well.

I know how changing phases used to work ... you put in a chit and requested to wear civilian clothes. Nowadays, I am sure it is different. Sailors are so hot to move on to phases they know for sure when they do!

Yes, she's supposed to stay within recall distance of the base. 300 miles? 350? I tried googling it, but couldn't find a concrete answer. Flying out for a week-end without specific permission is against the rules, that much has not changed.

Check my homepage, I have a blog posted there on the difference between leave and liberty. Also, liberty for sailors in school is a lot different than liberty for fleet sailors and sailors in C school.

Hi Diane, we used to live in Monroe but moved south many years ago. My sister called from MI last night and they got 10" of snow...and I had the nerve to complain of a day of rain!!!

I think the cold, bitter weather at GL...is part of the boot camp memories experience~! Glad your sons are doing well!

Good morning all,
Perhaps they are doing a short day Friday so Claire can graduate? I can see a 3 day holiday but four?

Pine - they do need to return to the base each night while on liberty. Is she is in Phase I - where was her PIR date?

Love the photo Jackie and Barbara :-D

They have done the interium clearance on Nick as well, he also had dual citizenship being born in Japan. We would expect it to come back clean as he has no ghosts. Hubby had "top" secret clearance and works for the government now and it still took them over a year to do his clearance. He thought it would be much quicker since he had been cleared by the Navy in the past..

They'd have to use their accrued leave days to travel out of the area. However, if they're a student, it would be highly unlikely their leave chit would be approved.

That said, my friends and I used to roadtrip on four day weekends if we didn't have duty. Very naughty, but I didn't get caught. Remarkably. I know better now, I was one lucky sailor.
