Thanks Pine Farm, I think we all have much to be proud of. Nick is just using some good logic in his early days at this command...may it continue!

He did call this am - Saturday is a "working" day at this base as it still is under holiday standdown. They split the leave over two periods so he actually has two watches colors and POTW. They normally have 5 day duty sections but due to the standdown, it's four day duty for a few more days. He's had such a good attitude since checking into C school.

Any Navy base, yes. It has been so long since I haven't had a card, I don't know what forms of ID to take other than my expiring ID! Sure, BC, marriage license, photo ID, SSN< go for it. If you don't need it, you can always take it home and file it away.

I had an ID from 8 to 22 under my dad, then I joined the Navy. When I got out ten years later I went straight to a dependent ID from hubby, and now I have a retired dependent ID. All my life, basically.

Although it isn't "I am an ET." We always said, "I R ET". Navy in joke. Wonder if that's still around?

You may not get that phone call until tonight Jackie - graduation day was a normal day for Nick. We did not even have lunch with him when we attended...since he was on a Friday, he called us when liberty started so we did get to do a celebration dinner ;-)

It's too early to say if he is going great but his head sounds like it is in the right place and he is looking at what he can do now to help with his class standing. I'd love to say...he is listening to his folks but...I think he is getting some good info from folks at the base. You know how a parent can say something time after time but when it comes from a peer...they hear it better?!! :-D

Watch quals are their qualifications so they are eligible to do watches. They have specific qualifications that they need to do and get signed off on.

Claire will know and can probably explain this better than I :-D

I believe it actually starts on the 26th but I'm not sure if that is the first day of indoc or the actual class. Some of the more seasoned FC moms will remember that some A school sailors went to GITMO for awhile, Nick met four of them yesterday. They have those sailors starting a week early to do some refresher training. They have Nick work on a self study program to keep everything fresh.

I will tell you I am impressed with what we are hearing from him on a number of fronts but he is getting some great information and is putting it to good use. He's been trying to get his watch quals knocked out as someone told him most of the new sailors transferring in do not jump on this and it creates a big problem for them.

He also went over and talked to someone about Rifle and Honor Guard yesterday and has to go back on Monday for a meeting but he is very focused on his class standing so he can get good orders when his time comes and he understands it's more than just the GPA that matters.

He's been very upbeat, very positive about his days at his new base so far.

Ellen, he could get orders to any school and you won't know until about two weeks before A school is completed.
