big deal Pictures, Images and Photos

I'm thrilled - we have now reached the 125 member mark! I started this group late April and happy to say the first 10 members of the group are still with us. For those that have sailors just starting the AECF road, it's a good road but a long one. Out of the first 10 "plankowners" only two of those Sailors have gone to the fleet....the rest are in C school and...a couple will be graduating this week from A school. So delighted that we have such a great group here for support and sharing!

perhaps you should just send me your address...I'm seriously cleaning out that corner of the basement! He's always been a computer geek and he has every computer that we ever let go. Had big plans to do SOMETHING with them and needed all those parts!

Please welcome our newest member Laurie to the group. Son is still in bc.

He was in his Cracker Jacks - nothing says Navy more than a pair of Cracker Jacks!! He had his travel orders, everything was in place - it is just another case of the airlines taking advantage of the young military members. If I wanted to be kind, I could say...perhaps it's a training opportunity for the airlines. We have witness this with every airline unfortunately. I do know that he will get his $$ back but it is a matter of when. For us, it is all about the principal, that $40 won't make a difference in his life but I am going LOUD with this - include to the CEO office at United and I have already emailed our Congressman. I'm not a rebel (well maybe I am) but the congressman lives local to us and I do think some consideration needs to be given to our sailors when traveling. Our airlines fall short - rather by design or opppppps...I'm not sure of.

Don't know what everyone else's Sailor did today but I believe ours was having a little drug test about 5 am this morning...I suspect a few of yours were there as well! Otherwise he was running around doing his checkouts - not sure what time he went to the airport but he wasn't in GL much today. He did say he is happy to be out of there before the weather gets bad again. Just found out tonight...he will be in the SAME time zone as us, that is a treat and one that I think we will treasure as I expect his next orders could put him.....well, let's just say - far away from mom and dad!

Nick did leave his seabag in the seabag locker during the standdown. He came home with just a bookbag but heck...all of his clothes are still here. I did threaten to do some "housekeeping" while he is at C school - he has about six computers TOO many here! He's been working on some mega computer for years......right......and I'm gonna be a blonde when I grow up!

Nancy dear...fleet, cranking, job.........LOL but so very true!

t's been a long day - ignore me~!

It's all based on the need of the Navy, what I don't know is why Sailor A gets ET orders and Sailor B gets FC orders but it sounds more like the rate is assigned to them. They are guarenteed AECF based on their contract but when they meet with the classifier - it sounds like congrats...you will be an ET or an FC.

No training today? Spoiling those sailors are ya?!!! :-D

United just clipped Nick for his seabags - I called customer service and they were..."really" he is in uniform and on travels orders and we charged him?!!! Yeah right! One department could not offer a refund as his travel is not completed but they could offer a $50 voucher based on future travel with them...right!

After indoc they go to SCC which lasts about two weeks and then goes to att, which is apprentice technical training, This takes place before A school begins. If your sailor is an ET they will finish ATT before startining in A school.

SCC, ATT and A school can last 5 - 8 months - it is a self paced computer driven program and there is no one to know what speed one sailor may complete it compared to the sailor sitting next to them.

If your sailor is an FC - they will do half of the ATT program, go to A school and then circle back and finish ATT. Which rate is your sailor Sherry?

Good morning all -I'm sure Hoppi would tell ya...cutting it close Micky!!! LOL
Nick landed early enough to catch up with some friends and made it to Outback for dinner. He did send a text just before midnight to say...he just got into a room. Did not say what building he is in and I suspect it doesn't really matter much - he is due to fly out to C school today if his travel orders are ready this morning. I suspect it will be a long day...for our sailors and the ...staff!

Welcome Diane, Glad that you have joined us. Yes, I was a Navy wife - we spent a number of years in Yokosuka, JN and that is where are son was born and we also did Mare Island, CA. Hubby did FC Instructor duty there and our daughter was born in CA.

Our sailor made it to O'Hare this afternoon, plane was only 45 minutes late.
