I went to so many different C schools, I can't remember them all ... the nicest was in San Diego. I was in the Dental A school barracks, but as an ET1/E-6 I had a room with a private head that was supposed to house four sailors. I could have had a fridge if I wanted to buy one, but instead I spent bucks on a really, really nice stereo. I had one roommate briefly in six months. Most of my C schools, I always had one or two roomies and a head down the hall.

The barracks for single sailors ... well, I had bad roommates most of the time. Just bad luck; I'd had great women as roomies who became life-long friends in Glakes. Except for C schools, and Diego Garcia where there is nothing but the base, I found a place to live off-base as quick as I could. Luckily, I qualified for BAH and COLA, and was able to have my own place. Junior rates don't always get that privilege, barracks living can be annoying. Every sailor has the tales of the Bad Roommate.

I just can't seem to get the hang of calling barracks "ships". LOL.

Nick looks like he is a boot camp escapee!!!

His dad jokingly last night...you need to get your hair cleaned up around the ears sailor...and this morning he came down with his head shaved! Before he left for boot camp last year he bought his own hair clipper set...guess he decided to put it to use!

Hope everyone has a great day - we are just waiting for our sailor to finish in the shower and then it is...back to school for him!

Very nice Millye, I was hoping they would show a close up so we could see Claire better! Steve used to be in the Navy band - played drums, no duty!

I understand they are EVEN more spoiled at C school! I know an EM that was in A school at GL and stopped by our son's ship and called his mom and said.....geez these FC's sure have it good!

Alicia - nice to see a photo of your son. I think it's a great story that he went and bought an iron. My hubby learned to iron while in the Navy and he still does all of his own ironing....I LOVE the Navy!!! LOL

Nancy - I bet you went and picked up that friend with a smile on your face!

Nick was going to wear his dress blues back, I hated to see him do that as our weather is nasty here right now, heavy duty fog and raining cats and dogs and then walking from the gate to the ship...he just picked up his uniform from the dry cleaner. I can see it getting trashed real fast and he is thinking he is flying to his C school on Monday. His dad said he never wore his uniform when he returned from leave but I remember he always had it on. Old age is setting in...on him!!! LOL

I bet Monday is going to be a long day for our Sailors!!

Hi all - we've been working feverishly at putting the Christmas decorations away...while I have lots of good help!!! So just stopped by for a minute.

Nancy - an FC gone Mustang!!! Can't wait to check it out!

Karla, I had asked Nick about the GI Fund this morning, I know they committed to paying it for 12 months but I wasn't sure when this time would be over since his anniversary date is approaching. I suggested since he is used to being without that $100 anyway that he may want to redirect the $ into some type of savings plan - sounded like he already had that in mind.

Kellie - what a good wife you are...letting him going hunting on his last day at home!

Do they have to wear their uniform back to base to check in?

San Diego is pretty but we loved Mare Island and close to the wineries. It was such a pretty base - the officer housing was incredible...not that we lived in it but it was beautiful.

Jackie and hubby was stationed there about the same time as we were...might have even been neighbors for all we know!

I don't know folks, leave is coming to an end mighty quick and I'm STILL waiting to see my Sailor do any ironing!

Ah yeah...I thought your driver just made round trips back and forth to the gate Hoppi to pick up our members!!! Actually I think a little walk from the front gate maybe just the PT that they missed the last week or two!

Welcome Nancy!!! You are official member 121 ! Wow,,,,,in May, I think there were TWO of us!!!

So do you mean to tell us - that you just found out that Ian is NOT a fireman?!! LOL I think they should have changed the name years ago but there is some logic behind it...once you say it enough!!!

Hoppi - your duty driver doesn't make special pick ups?!!! Come on gal Sailor!

I have no wisdom Pine Farms but I certainly would agree with you - meeting that new SIL and spending some time with them would have been nice.

I hope it works out okay for them.
