It's hard Pine Farms as they get older, have friends that they want/need to see and limited time as well...especially when they are in ...love!

I always thought my mother in law was the most gracious person, she was always so understanding of our time when we go home to visit. There would be many places and people to see and she would be.......go - we understand, you have a big family. I hope as my kids grow older and marry, I'll be able to remember how MIL handled things but................I'm probably be..........ME! It's not easy sharing!!!

I suspect we will be seeing alot of postings like yours Theresa over the next couple of days. Nice to have them home, hard to say good bye. I'm glad they are not all returning on the same day - maybe the airport, etc. won't be as bad.

Muster maybe very rude on Monday for some of our Sailors that....learned how to sleep in again!

Good morning all ---

Heavy duty, cold rain here this morning. Think my son ordered it special ...those Christmas decorations won't be coming down today!

I bet it is going to be crazy at GL as all of the sailors return from leave but I'm sure they are prepared for it as this exodus is an annual event. Hoping the weather, flights, shuttles, luggage, etc. is accomodating.

Is it me but wow ...that seems like a LONG walk from the gate to their ships with a seabag on their shoulders!!!

She is so going to love Mississippi - even more so after being in GL!

Quiet here today - hope everyone had a good day. Some of us are running out of hours with our sailors, I'm trying to decide would it be okay to make a list of things to do before they return to school...

1) Wash windows
2) Wash MOM's car
3) Christmas decorations down
4) Valentine decorations up
5) Go to dry cleaner
6) Walk YOUR dog...again

My kids seem to have their OWN agendas...don't they know they are here for our benefit?? Right?!!!

Oh well, let's treasure the moments - we don't have many of them left!

Marsha - you are so right, I was just remembering our Navy married days when BAH really mattered to us as a young couple.

I knew I could count on a few folks to spell it out...DEERS ...oh yeah, it's all coming back to me now! LOL

Love that New Years posting Susan - now are those candles or shot glasses?!!

Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System

You will also learn fun terms like COLA (cost of living allowance). The BAH rate with dependents is different than the one without. I found a link which goes state by state:

BAH - is for housing allowance that married Sailors receive.

DEER - I don't remember what the letters stand for, in the military EVERY letter stands for something!!! But married members must have their dependents enrolled into DEER and this will provide them with their medical insurance (TriCare) Okay, Hoppi - you can give the formal spin on it!!! LOL

When Steve and I married, I was quite independent (go figure) and he had been in the Navy for a number of years - think I held out on marrying him until he was First Class...Admiral rate was just taking too darn long!!! At any rate, there was a BIG deal at the time as he was already stationed in Japan and I was going there to join him and we married after the fact. Instead of being a dependent...I was an ACQUIRED dependent!!! I could not say it loud enough...

#1 - I was no one's dependent and # 2 I certainly was NOT acquired!!!
The Military looks at things just a little differently...not issued in the seabag....

Our first Christmas together, don't you know Steve had a key chain engraved for me that said...AD - it was our private joke for many years!
