Hi Pine Farms, glad that you caught up with us! So it looks like two of our Sailors got married during the holidays. I'd try to look at it this way...now they have the responsibility of another ...gives them that much more reason to focus on school and do a good job! Right (?!)

Helen, I agree with Nancy - we could say don't worry but you ARE a mom and that is what we seem to do best! C school was the "hot button" for our son, he knew what he wanted and he also knew it came down to performance, inspections, etc. - that coupled with the fact that his dad was an FC and every phone call home...they compared notes and in his own way - his dad would remind him that he was #1 in his classes - oh yes, the rivalry probably helped push our son along!

Before the standdown began, I understand they were pushing the students to start moving thru the course at a faster pace so they probably were feeling the pressure and just the opportunity to be away from the base and chill out maybe just what he needs. Hoppi may not agree - I believe she recommended ...study during the holidays but...it is Christmas right?!!!

Cute photo Kellie!!! Yes, Sunday will be a sad day for many families - for me, it just means getting back to business! Nick will be off to C school next week and as much as I love my kids...they must move on, make a living...take care of their mom and dad!!! LOL I will miss them but...back to school they must go!

Helen ... radar is hard. Servos and synchros are mind-bending until you get the hang of them. But the Navy wants the sailors to succeed, he'll do fine once he's back in school. He'll plenty of support and opportunity to study. Relaxing on leave and blowing off stress is all part of getting through the studies, just as much as knuckling down.

No phases in C school, at least none that I've ever experienced. That's because many sailors go to C school between, phases wouldn't go over well at all. That said, every school is different!

Can anyone confirm - when Sailors report to C school, do they start phase I all over again?

Nice photo Intelchips, I am still having a hard time adjusting to that new uniform!

Millye, it is so funny that you suggest boxers to Tily. I was thinking Claire asked for boxers?!!! Forgeting your son has gone before us. When Nick got liberty from the PIR, he did in fact ask if we could stop at a store so he could get...a new toothbrush and boxers!

Tily, your son will remain in uniform that weekend but we took a pair of sweats for the hotel room that seemed to be appreciated. When we asked our son what he wanted us to bring...he wanted Sweet Tarts! He had been eating healthy for eight weeks and was craving sugar and something tart. He was never big on candy but he really wanted something sweet.

Hello Mrs. Mickie - we know it was a beautiful wedding! Share pictures when you can...you are OUR first Bride of the group!!!

Jackie, I'll look for that movie, I love Debra Messing!

Amber, we are a friendly group here! Some of us have been together since the site originated in January and have been traveling the long road together. If your son went thru his training in Groton - you might not like our group too much. All the FCs in this room are shipbound - not subs. I understand the FCs on subs have a different group, they are referred to as SECF. Where these FCs are part of the AECF group.

You are so welcome to join us but...we don't know too much about subs here!

Welcome to our newest member # 119 - Amber

and goodbye to Lindsay. I have banned her from the group, this is not a place to advertise for personal gain. Thank you to those that brought it to my attention.

Millye, we will be interested in learning more about Magic Jack as you learn it. We may do the movies this evening, I'm hearing some great things about Seven Pounds with Will Smith. Daughter wants to see Marley and Me so we are drawing straws. Nick is going with friends today to see Spirit and I'd love to see Valkrie...but just not the Tom Cruise fan that I used to be so think I'll wait on the dvd release for that one.

Chicago looks like it is going from snowshovels to row boats! Hopefully travel will be kind to them this weekend.

Tily, the job description for the ETs is posted in the discussion forum above so that maybe of some interest to you and there are a number of ET families in the group that have recently graduated or will be in January to help answer your questions.

IntelChips, with the program being self-paced, I suspect even the best planning cannot account for Sailors that need more time to complete the program. I know before the holidays, there were TOO many still trying to complete this self paced program. With that being said, there are only so many computers available to them and it certainly can hold new students up.

Our son hit it at a good time, he was never on hold for more than three day during his A school program but it seemed like the closer it got to the holidays - the more backed up the school was. Hopefully when school resumes in January, we will see alot of the new students get into class. It is no fun being on hold.
